Is it compatible with a 1989 GMC 1500?

Longer than a ten-bolt eight.

For a 1999 Tahoe 4WD, is this a complete rear axle rebuild kit? Because one picture shows different parts than the other, such as gaskets, shims, bearings, and so on. ?

Only the bearings, pinion seal, and crush washer are included.

Is it compatible with a 2000 model with five wheels? Z71 with a 7-cylinder engine and four-wheel drive?

no, 2000- The rating for newer applications is an 8. Not an 8, but a 6" in the back.

Is there a kit for the 8 that includes shims and everything? Is there a 5-10 bolt rearend for a 1998 1500 4x4?

shims aren't present Only a couple of shims are missing, but everything else is in good working order

I had this and the Yukon Gear kit next to each other. I chose this one because of the low price, but I didn't realize the shims weren't included. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations, but shims are included in almost every other rebuild/bearing kit. Returning the item and replacing it with a kit that includes the shims.

Check the poor quality box to ensure you get everything. It appeared as if rats had been inside the package, with chewed up parts. br>.

Before you use the bearings, make sure they're in good shape

A bearing has been gouged out. This kit was purchased with the intention of using the pinion bearings as set-back bearings. I was cleaning bearings when I noticed one of them had a significant gouge in it (see photo). I would definitely return if I wasn't just trying them on for fitment. As a result, inspect the bearings, race, and other components as soon as they arrive and before you begin your project.

Where other brands have switched to overseas crap bearings, USA STANDARD GEAR is taking over the bearing market. High quality bearings, made in the United States.

With, I might be able to get some driving gear. Although it did not come with shims, I changed my review because it was still a great kit if all you needed to do was replace the bearings. My application was successful with factory shims.
