A knock sensor is installed in your engine. The knock sensor will be activated as a result of the gear drive. I have a 95 LT1 engine that I wanted to convert to a gear drive, so I did some research. The computer will not work if the knock sensor is used. In my older truck, I have a gear drive.

Will this work on a Yukon slt 5 from the year 1999? 350 horsepower from a 7-liter V8?

Yes, it will work, but the gears will make a blower-like noise.

" I was hoping for a "Jackson" sound. It's more like a "broken power steering" noise, but it's easy to install and does the job.

Against my machine shop's advice, I purchased this, and he was correct. The brand new motor sounded like I had a rod rap and the power steering pump was empty. Spend your money on a Pete Jackson instead of junk!.
