It took some time for me to figure out how to make it work. The light on the switch was not working properly. They sent me an entirely new set of materials. When I installed the switch, it lit up properly, but it still didn't work properly. So I replaced the relay, and it now works in manual mode but not in charge mode. So I called Tech Support a few times, and they told me to disconnect the Aux Battery and check the voltages at the Aux Lug on the relay for voltages, which showed 13 volts on both settings. So it was a success? The Aux Battery had died after a weekend run with no winching or heavy use. So, before my next ride, I removed the Aux Battery and gave it a FULL Charge; it worked, but better, so I concluded that the Auto Part of the relay requires a fully charged battery to operate.
However, br>br> The LED and a few of my dash indicator lights stay on even when the ignition is turned off when left in the "green" lit mode. I followed the instructions to the letter and contacted customer service, who informed me that they were aware of the problem but that the only solution was to turn the toggle switch off after each use. That's unacceptable, because the whole point of having this system is to use it in the backcountry or overland, where you can't afford to risk a parasitic drain on the batteries.
br>br>Recent changes: br>br> br>When I turn this on, it puts all of my amplifiers into protect mode. I reached out and waited for a response, but I couldn't shift into drive.
I haven't put it in yet because I need to make a mounting bracket. My 98 Jeep Wrangler's radiator support bracket is shown in the instructions and picture. The problem is that they don't provide the necessary mounting brackets or hardware, so you'll have to make your own! My other option is to mount it on the firewall, which isn't a good idea, so it's off to the hardware store for me. br>I've also read other reviews that claim the wiring instructions are incorrect, and that Rugged Ridge is aware of the problem. Before I energize this puppy, I'll have to do a little more research on that. I've got $900 in batteries and an alternator that I don't want to fry.
The installation went without a hitch. I . It appears to be in good working order. The installation went without a hitch. The Rugged Ridge Tray was mounted to the provided support bar because I had it. Because my switch location did not fit with the provided wire, I had to lengthen the leads back to the switch. Installed in a 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
I looked all over the internet for a dual power kit and this seemed to be the best option. br>br>The cables are very heavy duty and there is everything you need in the box to get up and running quickly. br>br>Instructions were very easy to understand and cabling was a breeze. This is yet another Rugged Ridge item that I adore. Testing revealed that everything worked as expected after installation. br>br>This project took about 1 hour to complete (excluding the battery test). It will take you 5 hours to finish. Internal wiring was the only part that took a long time.
The isolator was damaged when it arrived. Like pennies in a jar, it rattles around. The inside of it has been shattered, but the rest of the components are still intact.
It went in without a hitch, but the instructions could be more clear. I'm still not sure if I installed it correctly; it works, but the switch has a red light on all the time, and the instructions don't address this. Is this something that other people have experienced?.
