It can be stuffed into a 1 1/4-inch hole. 3/8 in. diameter hole and a 3/8 in. stud.

Works as advertised; the center stud moves longitudinally and twists a little, but otherwise it's a good product; I used needle-nose pliers to install it. To tighten the outside ring, use nose pliers (I'm sure there's a better tool for this, but whatever).
Solar panels were installed on the roof of my campervan. as well as the fact that I couldn't get the heavy cable through the van's metal floor without using a connector. Drill a hole slightly larger than the nylon insulator, then clean up the metal with a metal rasp until it fits. As you tighten the connector, this will keep it from turning. Over the last year, I've had no issues with these connectors; I also live in one of the most foggy parts of the country, where sea air causes problems with everything electric.
For getting through a bulkhead/firewall, these are exactly what the doctor ordered. These are something I'd recommend to anyone looking to put together a nice installation.

Don't tighten the screws too much! The lug moves and feels as if it will separate from the fitting as the nut is tightened down.
