A can of aerosol is indicated by the part number.

Do the wrinkles in this paint hold up over time? What happens if you chip it accidentally? Is it prone to flaking?

On a Subaru intake manifold, it continues to hold up well approximately one year later. It does not flake off or disband where bolted connections are found (such as the ground straps). In order to bake the paint as suggested on the paint can, I let it cure for 24 hours before applying the paint. The device has also been handled during assembly and cable and hoses have been pulled over

Is this going to stick to plastic engine covers?

It's true, I painted plastic valve covers just now If the surface is dirty, clean it thoroughly with a degreaser or parts cleaner before applying

When it is needed, blackity black black, it is great stuff
5/5

I really like what I've seen so far. My truck came with custom made roof rack mounts, so I bought this to paint them. They were almost exactly the same color as the rack powder. After using it on nearly everything that needs to be black, I haven't looked back. The following two tips may be of assistance 1.

Make sure nothing you don't want to be painted is covered with masking tape. There's a lot more paint in it, so it tends to go everywhere. While painting, make sure to use even sweeps. As I said, the paint is heavy so you'll get drips if you just blast it on your project. 2.
If you are coating it more than once, you should let it dry completely in between. Despite feeling dry to the touch after a few hours, it is not really dry. You will not be able to paint over past coats of paint correctly if you don't. I. 4. By drying it with a heat gun, you'll give it a better texture and get it to dry faster. This is *br5. It's not a big deal if you are experiencing The paint usually dries out if these spots appear. A solution of 99% isopropyl alcohol will remove overspray, but make sure to get it as soon as possible. The 7th point. You can get a long way with a little bit. The half of the can I used I bought after thinking I'd have to buy two. It covers a lot of ground very well.

A durable product! My SLC's engine bay was looking a little dull, so I picked up some wrinkle paint in order to tone it down
5/5

I love the ease of application, and it works great for wrinkles! It would be better if the black was flatter to match my intake, but I think that after a couple hundred miles in the engine bay, it'll wear a bit and look significantly Initially was skeptical of how long lasting it would be since it didn't seem like it would stick well or It's neither true nor false, and it's excellent. As I've already said, I'll be painting some closeups with it The next step is to lay out panels.

Exactly what it says it will do
5/5

VHT wrinkle paint has been used a few times by me. Although it's not too bad to use, I have never been able to get a finish that is exactly like the OEM finish. I am probably the one using this However, some of the corners seem to have an accumulation of it, and they don't I am happy with it as it works well enough for me to be satisfied. After I painted it as directed, I turned on my little radiator heater and placed the valve cover on top to warm it up and aid in tightening up the wrinkles for about two hours to make the paint work. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'd say it isn't great, but it is acceptable. My error probably needs to be corrected.

This factory has an awesome look and doesn't look Bright colors make the product stand out from the crowd
5/5

There is no cheesy glossy finish on the finish, as it looks like a factory Heat guns and blow dryers amplify the wrinkle effect, so using one of them to dry the paint will make the finish look great. The paint is easier to wrinkle up when it is heated in this way. When sprayed in a warm environment, the material will wrinkle, but not to its full extent. When sprayed in the cold environment, the material will barely wrinkle at all. My experience has been that preheating the part makes a big difference. It is best to clean and degrease the part before applying the I'm looking forward to using the product on more projects going forward. In particular, when used on straight 4,6 cylinder engines, the valve covers give the engine an exotic layout that is elegant and.

My profession is painting, so I find this product to be very frustrating
3/5

It is supposed to be my time to shine when it comes to finishing work. Not this time. I am restoring valve covers for an old car I'm working on. This wrinkle finish did not turn out very well in the first attempt. Spots that wrinkled dried to a smooth glossy black others dried wrinkled to a matte finish. It couldn't be done at all, so I stripped all of the paint off, thoroughly prepared the metal, prepared it again, and then primed it. It was just in case I wasn't fully satisfied with my first attempt that I had another can of paint. My heat gun was ready to go and I was confident that I would succeed this time. In trying to remove the cap, the nozzle broke and sprays all over my legs, boots, hands, and the paint booth. The valve cover, which had been prepped only moments ago, was covered in the paint as well. Now, as I type this, it is just spilling paint all over the paint booth. am waiting on 2 more cans to arrive later today, so I will try again later today. In terms of durability, I give this product 5 stars since it is definitely going to stick to your pants, boots, hands, and anywhere else you don't want it to be. My hope is that I will never see this crap product again once this job is completed. Surely there is another manufacturer out there who makes a similarly priced product. I would strongly advise you to choose another option before ordering this garbage. It'll literally cost me more to paint the valve covers than to purchase new ones.

Engines made of metal are not the only ones
5/5

You can also use it on plastic. My husband and I recently bought a can and we In full disclosure, I am not using it for engine parts or as directed by the manufacturer. (long story) I am making a prototype replica of a raygun, it has a very specific finish I wanted. you want a look on plastic that will look great, then this is the solution. exactly like old military bake on paint painted on ships and helicopters in the mid to late 20th century, and is also often found on old metal cameras The best method I found was to apply heavy coats and wait five minutes before continuing They recommend dampening them between (as they say on the can), but I thought I would dry them with a hair dryer immediately until they wrinkled. I was very satisfied with the results since it was fast and efficient. All my pieces came out even and look just how I wanted them to. As if it were a professional job. There is no guarantee that it will last as long as the manufacturer claimed but so far it seems pretty durable. Hence, if anyone is interested in this, it does work on plastic beautifully and can be used for many different purposes other than Any model war ship or airplane, or gun you name it, could be repurposed with this technique. you are a maker or model builder, I could not endorse this The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive from everyone who's seen it so far. It is also dry in a few minutes, so there is no need to wait for it to be completely dry. My point is simply that I wanted to mention it. I'm grateful to VHT for your support. You now have a lifelong repeat customer, regardless of whether it is not what you intended for your product.
