Questions & Answers

Can you give me an idea of how big the coverage area is per gallon?

It turns out that the coverage would have exceeded the 360 square feet if I had a 37 foot RV with two A/C units and a satellite dome. For me to get the coverage recommended, I had to really apply it heavily. I was very pleased with the results of the product and in fact had a gallon left over, so I applied it over the first I have not been able to measure the insulation value because it has been too cold. You must use the activator in order to achieve the required adhesion.

Can you tell me which roof you have on your Forest River Sandpiper 5th wheel? I have a 2002 model. ?

On the underside, a rubber roof will be black, and the topside will start to show through the underside as the top layer wears away. A trim piece for the ceiling vent must be removed to see the underside. When you examine the roof cutout opening, you will see an area where a membrane has been folded. If you look at the membrane from the top, you should be able to see the underside. It is not rubber if the object is solid in color.

What would this look like when it was stuck to a shed made of HDPE?

It's made to be used on rubber roofs, not on In addition to these, they have products for roofs of different kinds. Find out if there is anything available for your type of roof on the DICOR website.

Reading The Update Was Good, But It Was Not Good Initially
3/5

Earlier this day, I completed the job. The roof of my RV is about 10 feet by 18 feet (180 square feet), minus the area taken up by the AC and the bathroom fan, the vent over the fridge, and many other vents. The package states that it will cover 120 square feet in two coats, so I purchased two gallons in hopes that I would be able to cover another 120 square feet in I also bought two bottles of soapy activater prep liquid (which is mandatory). It was about 9 o'clock when we started our work About an hour later, I was applying the soapy Activator prep liquid to the RV's exterior walls, and I think I taped up the plastic sheeting around it. It seems appropriate to tell you what the condition of our roof is at this point. As far as I know, this roof is 15 years old and has never been maintained. The roof was so neglected that the previous light-colored pitch was visible for quite some time even though there were no tears or damage There was almost no colored rubberized coating on the roof, and it looked much more black (was it needed gloves before climbing the ladder. Using the activator, I sprayed it on and let it set for about twenty minutes The pressure washer should be used five minutes before it is used. As a result of the activator and pressure washer, all that was left of the old roof coating was washed away, along with a lot Before coating the roof with a coolcoat, I let the roof dry for about an hour. Each coat of this product was applied with a fresh roller, and I allowed it to dry for about 30 minutes A temperature of about 78 degrees and a humidity of about 45% seemed to have done well to allow the coolcoat to dry to the touch within A little less than 3/4 gallon of both coats were used. Approximately half a gallon was used for the second. In the third coat, about 1/3 of the paint was used. finished the four good coats just before sunset in the middle of July when I had enough time. When I walked the roof today, I found no areas that needed attention as far as drying is concerned. The following tips may be useful A paint tray is not required. Don't stir it - just pour it on the roof right at the source. A tray is just one more item that might end up in the way, fall off the roof, or pose other problems. In that case, my next tip is not to pour out too much at one time. Working on a black roof with direct sunlight made the wet stuff dry when I opened the lid! Some of the roofs were too dry for it to spread minutes after it was poured on! You can also try these tips It takes a lot of water to thoroughly clean a roller, and there are water shortages where I live, so that explains why I chose not to use a clean roller between coats. I tried to wrap a used roller in plastic for reuse, but it didn't work. Rubber gloves are also recommended, but I don't know if that should be considered a necessary step except maybe for the activator since it is not waterbased. You can also try these tips There were several gaps in the old putty that was originally used along seams and to waterproof screw holes and so forth, that I discovered while on the roof. There was no chance for me to go up there until maybe two weeks ago. If I had known that in time, I could have order several tubes of Dicor's self-help tape It might have been a separate job a week ago to level the caulk. In its current form, I'll do it later as a separate task. Despite the fact that it's a hot day, the inside of my RV is running much cooler than it would on a day such as today thanks to the coolcoat. It is however a comparison of the coolcoat roof and its predecessor. am not sure what the difference might be between a coolcoat roof and a regular dicor roof coating, or between a coolcoat roof and an RV roof that still has a large portion of its old coating. One last piece of advice You either need to do a better job of putting up the plastic sheeting than we did, or you need to skip it. It took us an hour to put it up with frog tape, but the pressure washer destroyed it! As a result of rinsing off the activator, we had to do an emergency RV wash since the black liquid mess ran down the sides of the RV as if it didn't exist at all. I am horrified at how much more difficult that job would have been if we had not dealt with it promptly. Even after it was still wet, it was hard to clean off the black liquid mess! In the end, I'm very happy with the results. It is a relief to feel the difference in temperature and I'm aware that the roof needed the rejuvenation provided by the coating. I have updated I've been planning a trip for a month and now I'm getting the trailer ready. My climb up the ladder to clear the small gutters obviously allowed me to see the roof, so I climbed it to clear the gutters of debris. When I looked up to the new roof I expected to see a pristine structure with no cracks or blisters, I was horrified to find that it was covered in blisters! The majority measure approximately the size of a dime, but some are as large as teacup saucers! The bubbles are clearly air pockets, which must be air pocket bubbles, if one pushed gently down. When I saw one under a vent cover that I experimented with, it ripped open easily, revealing the original roof underneath the multiple coats of this product that I had used. This is not the first time this has In addition to the spray-on, I also applied I followed the directions for this product as specified, and I believe I followed them as reasonably as possible. After I had completed the work, it looked good. Now it looks terrible, and it is clear that it isn't going to last. If I park under an overpass I will have to take my gear inside There's a tree branch hanging above these bubbles that's sure to shatter them! It looks like I will have to remove all of this expensive coating and completely refinish it I plan to do this job with another product, but I have had to downgrade my review because this task ultimately proved to be a complete waste of my time and money.

However, I cannot seem to get the product to work
4/5

This is a good product. The first time I opened the can, I noticed that it had a thick consistency similar to yogurt. This rubber paint has never been used before so I cannot compare it to Dicor products. It was just a matter of applying it in my work. When I opened the second can after drying and removing the lid, I noticed that the consistency of It's all good. The next question is what happens next? As of right now, I am midway through the application, which has to be completed and two coats applied within 5 hours. We're at the end of our rope. A small dent was present in the can, but I did not pay attention to it. It'll be hard for me to be a happy "camper" if the product fails prematurely. I have a suggestion for you. In the event the can has a dent or is missing its lid seal (see opaque plastic ring in illustration), it is necessary to open the can and check the consistency and to open and inspect both cans before beginning to.

I have updated
5/5

Most of the time, I'm happy. It was my son who recruited me for this position. The roof on my fifth wheel was chalking streaks, so I wanted to extend its life with a roof coating. It took me three hours to wrap it in plastic in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. I scrubbed and rinsed for at least half an hour after doing step 1 with care, being careful not to overspray. I waited for some drying time, which was fast in 74° and sunshine. I then applied two thin coats with step 2, giving each time plenty of time to dry. The second time around looked great and it felt great to make sure everything was in order. Upon checking the roof two weeks later, 90% of it appears to be in good shape. How did we handle the 10% of the coatings that did not look as if we trapped air? Small areas of the bond could be pushed aside, so maybe it wasn't really Three other areas of the roof were damaged by my shoe, which caused the air pocket to open. When I ripped it, I was surprised at how easily it tore. It's nice to have most of the roof in good shape, though I had to use emergency RV tape to repair some spots that were not sealed. I have updated. My rv's roof is cracked at several spots over a month later, and I went up to add vent covers, but I was disappointed to see the coating crumbling during the roofing process! I don't know what to say! After using this product for about a week, I am now really unsure of it. The majority of it is still in good condition, but now I have to buy another gallon to fix all the cracks. In the end, I wish I had not coated my roof for all the time and money it took! There is also no way to get a refund. I've updated Update#2- My issue with the Cool Coat cracking was resolved by Dicor customer service. In a short time, they responded and let me know that I thinned out the layers. It was very shocking and pleasing to learn that they are working on it again In addition to supplying me with the correct amount of gallons, they are sending me the activator (part 1) for no additional cost. My sincere thanks go out to Dicor customer service for making my mistake right. I made the mistake of making the thinness too.

If you want to have a rubber roof on your RV, then you must have this
5/5

As a fan of micro sphere formulations, I was very happy to find this product. When I remodeled the house a number of years ago, I applied a microsphere additive to the exterior walls on the interior. Neither I nor my friends can testify to the efficacy of micro spheres, but it is something We ordered four gallons of your micro sphere product for our 30 feet. I believe you did great research. Thanks. There is a motorhome roof on the vehicle. Three coats of paint were applied as thick as I could but only three gallons were used. I liked how easy it was to apply, how fast it dried, and how attractive it looks. We hope that the white color with the addition of the microspheres will give us an advantage against the burning.

I love it because it cools & protects at the same time! I have finally completed the coolcoat modifications on my 3 slideouts
5/5

Then, I did the preprep cleaner and brushed the edges & corners Did 2 coats with 1 gallon of product on the rest (my rubber roof was very porous, so it absorbed a lot of the product). Over my eternabond seam tape, I painted it right on top. My largest slide is currently down in Florida, and so far when I have the windows open and have run the a/c, the thermometer has consistently been at 2 degrees with the windows open. There is a temperature difference of three degrees between the main area and the pavilion. In addition, as you can see in the photos, my slides went from being dingy looking to so white that they made my roof look dingy too.

While working alone, I took me from 1000 a. m. to 200 p. m. During 3pm, I worked on 14 x 4, 3 x 8, and 7 x 12. In addition to the squares, I also taped up the sides of the rig as the cleaner recommended.
