That is an excellent It has been used with a high-quality urethane primer and I have not had any issues in the short run. I cannot comment on the longer term effects of the primer.
As far as I know, I've never seen a color other than black and white. You can get grey easy sand fast drying primer by picking it up and spraying a light misting for 8" to 12" away from the surface It should be approximately 12" or so, and be used the same way as After that, block sand it and you will see no difference in your highs or lows. This is the first time I've done it but I imagine it will work the same way as long as you let it dry first.
If I understand you correctly, Tom, you want to eliminate imperfections such as wavy panels, etc. If you wanted to cut into the gel coat or fiberglass, I doubt that you would want to do so. As a general rule, the body filler and/or primer surfacer is applied to the body and then the guide coat is applied to smooth it out to the desired level. Clearly, the filler and primer would need to be a color with enough absorbency so that the guide coat would adhere to it. It is Jackson's recommendation that you sand the gel coat in white guide coat if you intend to sand it. It is something I have never used so I cannot attest to its effectiveness. The other way to get a guide coat is to use a rattle can primer and lightly spray so that you will be able to see high and low It should be chemically compatible with your gel coat, and it should be allowed to dry before trying it out.
Taking your point of view into consideration, I would have to say that wood is an organic medium, so I wouldn't count on it working. In comparison to the synthetic material for which this product was designed, wood is a natural fiber that does not "stain" consistently. If you want to wipe wood, I'd suggest dampening the cloth.

I like the product a lot. Finding all low or high spots on your car is easier with this tool. I would buy from this company again.
In order to assure the best finish and perfect feathering, it is essential to use a hand to feel the surface and your eyes to verify the work with light from an angle. There are low points and high points all around, so a guide coat will help you find them. The alternative is using black primer lightly sprayed to coat the surface with a guide coat, but I find this to be much more user friendly, goes far beyond what a can of primer can do, and retains the 3M quality that.
There is no end to it, unlike the same thing which lasts a short time. I should have tried this earlier, why didn't I? It must have been the price point that kept me from buying it. Rather than making my own, I kept buying spray cans of Hindsight tells us that what we did It lasts forever, much longer than a spray can guide coat worth the same amount of money. The stuff in this video is great. There will never be a time when I use spray guide coat again.
This is a good deal.
The guide coat arrived in good time, as described, it's a good piece of work and it's well worth the money.
A boat deck was leveled with it to eliminate uneven fairing compound.
