Questions & Answers

Is this going to make the wood fibers swell?

I imagine it would, but it dries, and you should be able to refinish it without difficulty once it has dried. You should be able to paint over it once it has dried. If you're going to use it on wood, I'd suggest sanding it first.

Does this cling to walls when I'm stripping a travel trailer?

Yes, it will unquestionably remove the paint in under an hour.

Is this applicable to both plastic and fiberglass car bumpers?

Probably, but it could slightly etch the surface. It should work if you plan on sanding, cleaning, or otherwise preparing the surface afterward. It does a good job of removing clear coat and paint.

Is it necessary to rinse after this?

Typically, bubbled paint is removed with a putty knife, then the area is wiped clean.

It's incredibly simple to work with
5/5

This stuff is just as good at removing paint as their rust remover is at removing rust from old tools, parts, and so on. It's also very kind to your hands. br> Not like the old-school acid-washed strippers. br>A thick coat is applied, then scraped off after about 15 minutes. period. br>Excellent product at a reasonable price. br>Eric.

Great for rusted metal and metal that has been painted
5/5

So far, I've used a lot of paint strippers, and I prefer eco-friendly options. Even though environmentally friendly paint stripper products like Dumond Smart Stripper and Max Strip aren't as fast as chemical-based paint strippers, I figured it was worth a shot because it's made by Evapo-Tech. Their water is something that both Rust and I enjoy. rust remover with a phosphoric acid base So, after receiving this product last summer, I put it to work on some 27 x 1 38 Murray Bike Fenders, as well as a chain guard that I removed from a Murray ladies bike, and let me tell you, this stuff gets to work on stripping the paint right away. The paint stripper can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour to work, and it may need to be left overnight in some cases. Now, in terms of the paint on these fenders, it wasn't very appealing or something to look at from the start, not to mention that there was cosmetic rust underneath both fenders. I even tried this stripper on the rust itself and it literally stripped the rust like it was nothing, especially once I used a purple paint strip disc that I got for my drill, it was game over for the rust, and thankfully once I let the metal cool and looked at the metal underneath it had some light pockmark Now, when you're using this stuff, put on clothes like pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes first. Wearing shoes that cover your toes (a paint suit or long sleeves is optional depending on the weather and the conditions you're working in, such as indoors or outdoors) and gloves, such as disposable nylon gloves, is recommended because this isn't something you want on your skin because it can sting and hurt. Because it is water soluble, the fact that it can be cleaned with water is a huge plus, as is the fact that it is biodegradable. This is something I really enjoy. Plus, as others have stated, this isn't magic; once the paint, varnish, or stain bubbles up, it can be scraped off and/or finished. Furthermore, it only removes the paint and causes no damage to the metal. This works well on steel, whether painted or anodized, or any other type of finish. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on an alloy yet, but will. Now, I've tried this on both stained and painted wood surfaces. For painted wood surfaces, it works great, no issues; for stained wood, it kind of worked, but the main issue was that I only had a little left and not enough to see an impact; however, I would say that for the most part, especially if it's applied thickly, it should be fine. Aside from that, this stripper is a dream to work with. My only quibble is that I wish this product came in a gallon size because what if you need a lot of it? Simply something to consider and consider as feedback to the manufacturer. br>For any paint stripping project, especially metal, I highly recommend this. This is something I will definitely buy again!.

If you follow the directions, it works well for light duty
4/5

I felt compelled to write this to dispel some common misconceptions. br>This product does remove paint, but it is not magic. You'll need to scrape the paint off after it bubbles up. That strikes me as a complete "DUH!" moment. The bubbles are loose paint, which I didn't want to have to say, but it seemed necessary. It is your responsibility to get rid of it. br>All right, let's get down to business. This product performs admirably with latex and other similar paints. It's also effective with aerosols. It doesn't help professionally applied car paint much, and powder coat is a different story. It's simply not going to work out. If that's what you're trying to get rid of, you'll need a blasting cabinet, as sandblasting is your best and only option.

Not even close to the old methylene chloride-based stripper in terms of effectiveness
3/5

It's been a long time since I used a paint stripper, and most of them were based on methylene chloride. I understand why the old school formula is no longer available, and I initially assumed that any alternative would be less effective; however, after reading the labels of the newer products and seeing claims like "fast acting" and "strips up to 5 layers of paint with one application," I began to believe that perhaps there had been a breakthrough or major advancement in finding a safer alternative to ethylene chloride based strippers. If this is any indication of how most, if not all, of the newer formula products perform, I'm afraid I'll have to say my initial hunch was correct. With just a few layers, I was able to quickly burn through a gallon? Some of the wood doors I was refinishing were still attached to me in some places. I did leave the product on for the recommended amount of time, so I can only say that it works, but if you're stripping something that's been repainted a few times over the years, be prepared to spend some money. I now recommend applying one coat of stripper and allowing it to sit for at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes before scraping clean with a putty knife and wiping down with an acetone-soaked rag. Finally, sand with a sanding block or an orbital sander for faster results. Ps: I was stripping about four layers of paint, including some oil-based and some water-based latex coats. Good luck.

It's as simple as soaking and rinsing
5/5

This is truly amazing! I usually let things sit for 4 to 6 hours before using them. After 24 hours, all of the rust has vanished. Well, it's not completely gone; it's at the bottom of the holding tank, but my item is rust-free. You can check on the progress of your item at any time by pulling it out. You'll know when it's time to rinse it off when you see this. Rust is no longer an issue. You have completed your task. The liquid can be reused several times, making this a nearly cost-effective option.

You will waste the majority of the product if you follow the directions on the bottle; it took me an entire court of this stuff to strip one cabinet door
3/5

After much trial and error, I discovered that you should slather this stuff on and wait up to three days before scraping the paint off, depending on how many coats of paint you're using. I believe I have at least four or five coats on the paint, and there are still some residuals; the paint isn't completely gone, but what can I say, I'll try the orange stuff next time; also, the smell is strong and chemically unpleasant, albeit not overpowering.

This paint remover is incredible
5/5

I was working on some smaller projects when I decided to give this a try; I've been using Vaporust for a long time. After letting the product sit on the project overnight, I didn't need to use any brushes at all and simply sprayed the paint off the next morning with a water hose.

This is fantastic
5/5

On a powder-coated steel plate, this is what it looks like. To get it down to the bare metal, repeat the process a few times. It appeals to me. It stings a little, but not too badly if I get it on my face, which seems to happen all the time. However, there are no complaints, and I will most certainly order it again. It's very easy to clean with just soap and water.
