Questions & Answers

Do you think this could be used ?

Are you talking about the following parts? The adhesive bonds well to airplane skin aluminum. My advice would be to be careful around moving parts. He's robbed

Are you able to tell what shade the grey Yamaha paint color is due to the green primer?

Using this primer I painted over old Volvo Penta grey paint with a green primer. After the grey paint was sanded to remove paint chips, the green primer was applied. After overcoating with Volvo Penta grey, I did not see any gren print through.

Is it a large area that can cover a lot of space?

You won't know what I told you, I'm afraid. A can of paint was left over after I bought it to paint my Bravo 3 outdrive on my boat. Please accept my sincere thanks for your help.

Yamaha marinepaint can be sprayed over this product, correct?

I was under the impression that it would work, but, like any paint, the surface has to be clean and there are time factors to take into account. On the lawn chair, I used this clear coat to protect the paint. This is an incredible paint job (staggering turnout). Unless it's a product that looks or feels amazing, I don't leave feedback

This primer is excellent for refinishing rust-prone areas on the keel of a cast iron sailboat
5/5

The product you are using is great if you need to touch up your cast iron boat keel. I used it to treat several large and many smaller rust spots on my sailboat's cast iron keel. During our haulout this winter, we saw no other signs of corrosion on the keel after three attempts to refinish it. This was the third time I refinished it, and we did not see any rust when we were refinishing the boat. I used a grinder with a wire brush attachment on a dry day to remove the rust as well as the layers of paint and epoxy coating surrounding it that had built up. Once the surface was ground down to bare metal, I thoroughly clean off the dust, and then spray this primer over the refinished area immediately. Three and a half coats of this primer soaked into the paint completely after each coat and dried completely between coats. In total, I refinished approximately 4 square feet of the keel with 3 coats of the finish liberally applied to every patch of refinished wood. Near the middle of the month, the can ran out When applying a 4th coat, there is a certain way to apply the Spraying the primer over the bottom paint resulted in adhesion to the bare cast iron keel and even to the paint where it was overlapped. On top of that, the primer dried well, thus providing a good adherent for the bottom paint.

In two folds
3/5

First, the can doesn't hold much. It empties in a very short period of time. In addition, the price of a rattle can of primer is a bit steep. It never occurred to me that Technique Zinchrome (#7222) was available at Napa. I quickly finished two cans and was waiting for another one to arrive. The price is only $11 a can, and the cans have gone much further -- even though the drying process is nearly three times as long. I think it's a fair price for more primer than Moeller's product and half the price of this one.

A new product from Moeller that is amazing
5/5

A new product from Moeller that is amazing. To use this product, I painted an old steel chair outside, painted it with this product, and then covered it with clear coat. I am so impressed with the outcome. There's another paint that dries quickly so that it doesn't allow for runs during the paint process. I really love this paint, and the fact that it bonds so well to aluminum makes it even more appealing. There is a way to media blast aluminum at a relatively low pressure (approximately 35- to By using crushed/recycled glass poured 40 PSI), the paint almost melts into aluminum and won't It is also not necessary to wear more than one coat. A great coating is achieved with this product. You will have a flawless paint job if you use an inexpensive plastic spray paint handle with the type of tip on the can. If you use your finger tip, it causes a slight accidental drip or splatter if the spray pattern builds up on the spray nozzle and tip of your finger. Not just this spray can exhibits this problem. Many spray cans do as well. Using this pattern will give you the perfect paint job with any spray can. So keep a clip-on spray paint handle handy at all times. There is no problem with mine after 10 years, and I pay a few bucks for them.

There is no indication that it will move
3/5

Paints that contain this primer formulation must be used on In this photo, you can see what it looked like before stripping and priming, and on the day after. A coat of color should be applied soon after the primer is set. After the primer set, I could not scratch the aluminum. There is only one catch, though the stuff is incredibly expensive. The only thing we can tell for sure is if it is worth it in the long run. It will be interesting to look back and see where I am after a year or two.

For raw metal, the best primer is acrylic
5/5

During the winter I used this primer on my brother's 22 rifle because rust and lack of blueing had deteriorated the firearm. In the following procedure I glass bead blasted the gun parts to bare metal, primed them with zinc chromate, scuffed the parts with a pad and spray painted them flat black after they dried for a couple of days. They were happy with the rifle because it turned out great. My thanks and regards go out to you.

There is lead in this product
4/5

As far as I can tell, it works great for priming aluminum. Drying takes only a few minutes. According to others, the cans are branded marpro. While it contains Lead Sulfochromate Yellow, which does not appear to be mentioned anywhere else, it is indicated I am not sure if it is in other flavors of zinc chromate primer or not. Since it appears to be just a pigment, I'm unsure why it was used. Moeller's site does not appear to have an MSDS for it the only lead-free "zinc chromate" paints I see are zinc phosphate based paints.

This product could have decent quality if it is tested first
3/5

I give it a 3 out of 5. Despite the rattle can, there was some difficulty getting the primer to adhere properly. Coming from a rattle can, I expected a little more effort, but I still struggled. I may have been too high in expectations, and there may have been a reason for it. A smooth and uniform finish was achieved. My first step would be to test the application before putting my full faith in it.

I think it's worth the effort
5/5

Even though it may seem high for someone like me, the can of primer contains a great deal! Getting out of one's car is easy.
