All I know is that I worked on car paint jobs.
It was me
Although it may work for this, I think Goo Gone would be safer for that. Having used this spray on some painted surfaces, in some cases it worked fine (didn't harm the original paint at all) and in others it seemed to act like a solvent, dissolving the original
That's not the proper application for this product, this product should only be used for paint and body prep before painting an automobile

This was used as a preparation for a touch-up I recently conducted I put a lot of work into my 2016 Mustang. (I found that wetsanding with 2000 worked especially well on my paint and left me with minimal scratches on the surrounding paint. ) Unless someone points out the spot to you, polishing out light scratches will make the touch ups almost invisible unless you can just see them from a few inches away. - This pre-work is meant to prepare you for the following I found spray to be very useful in my application. Spraying it on freshly painted surfaces is a hazardous procedure, as it is much stronger than one would think. It was a painful lesson for me to learn. Once I had done my initial base coat on my touch up, I sprayed this over it, and it dried quickly (a dumb move), so when I wiped the surface clean with a towel, it was back to bare metal in a flash. I love it! Even though you can probably get away with washing the surface of the car and then using clay bar as the final prep, I still preferred to clay bar the surface first. Depending on how dirty the car is, or how long it has been since a detailed, you may find it worthwhile. If you do this, the finishing portion of your project will be much cleaner, since I found that as I was sanding the "blob" down, it caused light scratches around the area I was working on. It was almost to the point I did not care about buffing them out (lighter than the usual swirls from cleaning the car).
You must take precaution! Whenever you use this product, you should mask off any plastic trim because it will melt the surface leaving you with a black, sticky mess!.
This can act as a solvent instead of a cleaner. Next time, I will use alcohol in my parts rather than this product, because it worked fine in some areas, but the plastic melted in others.
When used after clay bar and sealer prep, this is great stuff. It has become much more expensive in the past year, but it goes a long way and lasts a long time in a cool, dry location. With a spritz of sealer on and a wipe off, you're ready to go.
However, some of the information is removed. The side molding on my truck was removed, and I used an eraser wheel to clean the left over adhesive off. The eraser wheel leaves a residue on the paint and this Prep-it product helps to remove that residue. I was able to remove it with spray without any problems.
I use Dawn dish soap to remove the majority of contaminants and wax from my car, then I use this pre-wax to have it ready for waxing. Wipe off any wax or soap residues with a fine spray. Unlike other products, this one doesn't leave a residue behind, so the surface can be refreshed with a fresh coat of paint or wax. The cleaners you use will depend on the project you have. If you're looking for something that removes everything, there are harsher products.
The first thing you need to do is use this before you paint.
If you are doing your own paint job on your car, this is absolutely essential. In the process of refinishing my back bumper, I used this prep wipe between the sanding and the painting phases. I was able to save a lot of money with this.
