Product Description

Single component chassis paints and protective underbody coatings like Chassis Saver are engineered to permanently stop automotive and truck corrosion without primers or topcoats. It's a high solids, VOC-free paint.
As a result of its distinctive Rust Stopping properties, Chassis Saver can be applied directly over tightly adhered rust after only marginal surface preparation with a wire brush and/or hand scraper to remove loose scale and rust particles.
A medium blast profile can be used to achieve excellent results when sandblasting a surface.
Applied to blasted, rusty, and corroded metal, Cabinet Saver (aka CSI) forms a polymer coating that becomes hard yet flexible, non-porous, and will not crack,
During the process, metal is isolated from oxygen and moisture, therefore, these factors won't affect it. A cure of the chassis saver is achieved by reacting with water in the atmosphere. The cured film resembles that of a catalyzed finish yet is not hardened or activated.

There are no problems rolling and brushing it. I would say that a gallon would be sufficient. With less than a gallon of gas, I do a 78 Scout Traveler.

Paint can I use on this stuff?

In short, yes. A brush, small roller, or spray gun may be used to paint it (xylene thinning the spray will be necessary). Be sure to wear a respirator in a ventilated area when spraying because this stuff is very strong. You will need to top your project within 24 hours if it will be exposed to sunlight. You can find the exact details on the product label. The only thing I know after using the gear under my Jeep is this. Although it has only been a few months, I don't see any rust on it from the salted winter roads. It looks great, I wish you the best of luck.

It is possible to use this paint in two different ways. The first thing I need to say is this. You do not want it on you! This can be applied with a spray or brush. On the can are the directions. Although I have never sprayed paint, my estimate is that it would take 2 gal the brush will require 3 gal or more. This is the only product I use on Just need to take off the paint and heavy scale rust. I forgot to You do not want it on you! For it to be removed from you, it will take a week or more. This is what I painted on my 74 Chevy pickup The chassis was replaced in 1997 and the paint began to flake off after 5 years. The Upstate of New York is home to me. There will need to be a hole punched and a drain can put in. Keep all directions in mind! My sincere hope is that the above information was helpful, Jim

What is the best way to prepare the frame for painting?

The best way I found to prepare the frame for chassis saver was to use a chipper to remove the rust and then use a grinder to grind the remaining rust into hard steel. It has inhibitors anyway, you just want to take out the big chunks.

It works very well! Despite its fragility, cans were a pain to open
4/5

Preparation is the most important part of any job, such as refinishing an old frame on my 1990 K1500. In the 3 days that I spent wire wheeling my frame, brushing hard-to-reach areas, and getting rid of all the loose junk, I cleaned the area where I intend to mount the box. As soon as I cleaned the frame, I used Mean Green to degrease it and power washed it. It was impossible to open the can of chassis saver. Finally, I had to knock a hole in the lid and pour what I needed in a plastic bowl and mix it with the S8 reducer, I used 3/4 gallon on my frame, two My truck was cleaned and recoated in my garage during daylight hours. I used cardboard everywhere that I did not want this stuff on my body, it smells and its not easy to clean off of your skin without respirators and eye protection. I used gloves and eye protection. Overall, I am very happy with the results, but time will tell how durable they will be.

I recommend you buy It was used by me on my Ford Ranger
5/5

There was a lot of rust on the frame. As per the instructions, I removed the loose flaky rust with a wire wheel, but did not remove the surface rust. During my first coat, I applied it with a brush because I had forgotten just how much I dislike painting above my head. I also sprayed a second coat. There are a lot of runs and hits There are some drips, but they are my fault. The coating is extremely hard but also very With two coats, 1 gallon of the spray did the job on my 2000 ranger frame, springs, and spare wheel mount. It really does coat rusted metal very well, as I discovered after doing a few test pieces. NEITHER GET IT ON YOUR SKIN NOR GET IT IN YOUR EYES. Do not wash off with water but clean it with acetone. Wear it for a month if you have to. Also, your sprayer should be as follows The correct term for this is acetone and It is not necessary to pry the lid open. The glued on cover of the book is not something you want to open Put a hole in for pouring and stirring, and a hole in for venting. A bent rod was inserted in the hole with the aid of a drill and stirred with it. Once the holes have been covered with foil tape, you are done. To paint with, I used a $25 electric paint gun from Harbor Freight. This worked very well for me, and I was pleasantly surprised. This is how it was done. A . 03 tip (supplied) diluted with around . 2 - . 3 of water There is 5% acetone in it. In case you are wondering, I did not test spray undiluted paint. Edit
If you dilute it with acetone, it will not work. make sure you clean it up with it.

This is not the color of choice for you

Rusty metal responds well to this product. These are the wheels we use on our dump trailers who have seen many miles and many years. Nevertheless, you'll need to coat your work with a top coat. A variety of brands are available if you are looking for POR15 or industrial/farm implement paint. A few of them are available at good prices through TSC. If you want the deep black finish to last, you have to apply "Chassis Saver" as soon as possible. Over time, the sunlight ruins the finish. This shirt still looks great, but it's faded from the sun. A few days before I found out about this, I tried painting inside the dump. As soon as the shingles were dumped, the paint ripped right off of them. It looks great on the outside still, and no rust is evident. As we rolled on, we used brushes for spots that were tight. It is cheaper than spraying, but the paint would lose its quality from overspray, plus it would need to be diluted before it could Therefore, I would rate this paint as two thumbs up! The 08th update is here To date, we've reroofed the building 3/4 of the way through the busy season and have not seen any signs of rust. purchased a couple of new trailers after painting a few older ones with Chassis Saver, and the new ones have more rust than the older ones. With a topcoat applied to the trailers, the chassis saver works very well. The trailers are not as shiny as the new ones, but there is no rust to be seen! I must say, it really does a good job of protecting My vote for Chassis Saver is two thumbs up.

Money wasted on a waste

The product did not perform as advertised for the restoration project. I have done the project for many years with no problems with This product has high ratings on Amazon, so I decided to give it a try. As a result, the paint flaked off when it dried. The conditions for adhesion are quite specific for this product. When I had contacted the seller, he was unable to help, so he told me to contact the The customer service person I talked to said 90% of the time it was the responsibility of the person who prepped the item to be painted, and that he did not care that I was unhappy with the product. I wanted a refund, and getting schooled on restoration only made matters worse. We gave the paint to a restoration shop to see how it would work. After trying out the paint, they were not impressed and returned it.

This article explains how to apply S8 without any I painted the entire frame, suspension and underside of my SUV in one gallon with two coats of paint and some leftover
5/5

The S8 solvent should not be purchased. Take off the lid while you're at it. As an alternative You will need a paper towel, disposable container for the paint, duct tape and a brush
3) pour a small amount into the disposable container
4) stick a small amount of tape over and under the triangular hole. Using a milk carton bottom, I cut it in half and washed and dried it. We will be using duct tape strips to keep air out the can (there is no need for a solvent float), so we will remove excess paint from the lid and hole, then we will paint and repeat the process. It hardens to a beautiful finish when it hardens.

I am very happy with the results! A spray gun, such as the optima hvlp, was used for this
5/5

I had the bed off the About a gallon of the stuff was used up. As I only had the truck a few weeks before selling it, I can't attest to its durability. However, one of my neighbors came over to try to scratch it off and was impressed with its hardness. Just bought a Chevy truck, so I plan to use it for that one as well, since I will have to remove the factory bed to install a flatbed. Cleaning your surface before applying paint is crucial to getting it to adhere properly. My steam washer works great on the truck. I started with the rough spots, then went over them with an air hammer to remove the big You'd be fooling yourself if you didn't start by knocking off those big chunks of paint and body. My father owned a paint and body shop for 30 years, so I grew up around it. As a result, they have been in business for a while, and I would doubt that they would be in business if they did not have.
