Genuine Honda power steering fluid was less expensive on Amazon, so I ordered three bottles to replace the old fluid in my Civic. The steering is smooth, but there is a bit less noise when turning than before.
br>For a complete flush, you'll need at least three bottles; even then, the fluid will darken quickly, but this stuff is too expensive to flush until it's clear. As long as you don't have any other issues, such as a leaky/broken rack or pump, it will improve your power sheering. If you ignore any power steering issues, you'll need to replace the broken parts to get back to the way things used to be. br>br>This was purchased to flush the power steering on a Honda with 180,000 miles that had previously been flushed and had slightly stiff steering. I recommend flushing your power steering system every 100,000 miles because it has improved, but it is still not perfect.
I'm not a car mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. As a result, I had no idea there was such a thing as power steering fluid until I went to fill up my wiper fluid and discovered there was almost none left. (Thank you, mechanic, for reassuring me that everything was fine. ) So I looked at the cap, which stated that only Honda fluid could be used, so I went to Amazon and found this. br>br>I own a 1993 Honda Prelude with 171k miles on the odometer. After the change, there is unquestionably a difference. Others have said it's pricey, but I'd rather pay $8 than go to the mechanic. br>br>For those who aren't familiar with the term, It's very simple to use for car mechanics like me. I can't promise you'll be able to do it on your own, but I think you'll be able to. This purchase made me very happy. br>br> When the need arises, there is a 100 chance that I will purchase this again. (Plus, I'm aware that I should keep an eye on it now!).
My Acura RSX, which was built in 2002. s was putting in a lot of time behind the wheel - For a brief moment, driving became difficult. When I turned the steering wheel, it made a strange noise. I looked it up in the owner's manual. Then I double-checked the level of power steering fluid. It was on the very low end of the scale. I ordered Genuine Honda power steering fluid and slowly poured it in until the level reached the full line, which eliminated the noise immediately. Intermittent hard steering issues are also no longer an issue. I haven't had a single issue in over a month. I'm not going to use anything other than Genuine Honda for issues like this, and I'm not going to risk unknown additives or contaminated water. It's designed specifically for Acura/Honda vehicles.
I'm not sure how this differs from the name brands available at Auto Parts stores or WalMart, which are clearly marked in Big Red letters (For Use In All Honda Power Steering), but I went ahead and bought the Honda Brand anyway, and it works perfectly. br>br>I'd also like to draw your attention to some of you late-model 2003 - 2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 - 2010 - 2011 - 2012 - 2013 - 2014 - 2015 Honda Accord (2007 model) Owners of Acura vehicles, there is a service bulletin for the previously mentioned Honda models that requires the replacement of the old Power Steering Pump O-Ring. I found the bulletin after doing an internet search and followed the simple instructions on how to replace it because the old one is letting air past it as well as leaking into the power steering system, causing a High Pitched Whining when the wheel is turned,br>br>I found the bulletin after doing an internet search and followed the simple instructions on how to replace it, (FYI) You should replace it even if you don't have any Whining The Honda 13 is the number of the Acura Service Bulletin. The part for the washer is listed in Bulletin 012 (you can also find detailed video instructions on YouTube or the DoD web site), and it costs less than $2. 00, which you can get from Amazon or a Honda or Acura dealer near you. It took me less than 20 minutes to replace (using a 10mm open end wrench and a flat bladed screw driver).
Local auto parts stores don't have them. This will keep me occupied until the power steering fluid leak in my Honda minivan is repaired. Honda fluid is required by Honda - Generics are not an option. Nobody had Honda power steering fluid after visiting three of the closest auto supply stores (and driving around for an hour). It can be found on Amazon. It works. 5 stars for the ease with which I was able to obtain a product I required with just a few keystrokes and in a matter of days.
OEM power steering fluid is available at a reasonable price. This fluid is required for the long life of Honda pumps, so I purchased two quarts for a flush and refill on my 2001 Accord. The original pump has 178,000 miles on it and is still working well and quietly.
Substitute is not an option. I can't say this is the best PS fluid on the market or that it outperforms others in any way. What I'll say is that Honda and Acura have made their PS systems so proprietary that using any other fluid (even high-performance, "universal" brands) will result in you having to replace a reservoir, hoses, and seals. Even a rack would be nice. So, while I'm disappointed that I don't have a choice, it does steer when used.
