I put it in my 98 S10 with the nv1500 five-speed transmission. It was a success.
However, I've tried it in my Tremec T56 and it improved the tranny vs. the Castrol Dexron III and Mobil 1 ATF that had been in there at various times previously. The RP Synchromax or the Amsoil ATF are excellent choices for your tranny. For any manual transmission, these are the two best transmission fluids on the market.
I don't have a Jeep, but the Royal Purple Synchromax fluid is designed to replace all Synchromesh applications, so if your Jeep's NV3550 calls for Synchromesh (which I believe it does), you should be fine. Synchromax would be a good upgrade.
I'm pretty sure the transmission in a Sonic is made in Korea, and I use it in my Honda Civic Si, and it makes my shifts smooth and precise.

However, after reading all of the RP Syncromax reviews, I decided to go ahead and purchase it. I put my money down and decided to give it a shot. Let's just say I didn't realize how loud my tranny was until it wasn't. Honda's six-speed transmission is known for being not only bulletproof but also buttery smooth. And with only 25k miles on my SI, it's a no-brainer. I wasn't expecting to see much of a difference. I WAS WRONG, BY THE WAY! What a difference, oh my goodness! I poured the first quart into the container. After that, I used Lucas synthetic stabilizer to fill the bottle halfway. I used the remainder of my 2nd quart of RP Syncromax to fill the bottle. To mix it, I gave it a good shake. Then I pumped it in until the overflow was full. I cleaned up, straightened up, put everything away, and then washed my hands before proceeding to see what would happen next. br>Jumped right in and got her going. I'm pulling away from the curb. I was completely oblivious to what was going on around me. Only a few blocks. I'm not sure what I'm missing. However, after a few miles and 20 or 30 shifts, I was ready to give up. Everything was silky smooth, which I noticed. And as I progressed, it became slightly smoother. br>In addition. My tranny was so loud, I swear I had no idea. until there was an abrupt pause in the action. What a difference, oh my goodness. br>Now that I've been running for a week, I'm really happy that I went with RP in my gearbox. It's something I strongly suggest.
For years, I'd heard good things about Royal Purple, so when it came time to replace the fluid in my 6 speed Jeep Rubicon, I decided to give it a shot. To begin, I'd like to state that my shifting was fine prior to the change and that I had no problems; it was simply time to change due to scheduled maintenance. I believe I used Mobil 1 or possibly Valvoline the last time I changed it and was pleased with the results. I didn't expect much of a difference after switching to the RP because I wasn't having any problems to begin with. The shifting and movement are still fine, but they aren't as smooth as they were when using the previous fluid. I even drove it 500 miles to break it in, but it still isn't up to par in my opinion. On the next fluid change, I'll switch to something else.
This is what I use in a Ford Ranger with a manual transmission. I wanted to go the distance, so I replaced the old fluid with new OEM-recommended ATF, drove it for a few hundred miles, then drained it and replaced it with the Royal purple synchro Max. br>br>To be honest, it wasn't as smooth at first as the new, clean ATF, but after a few hundred miles, it was noticeably smoother.
However, it was successful. And the distinction was striking; I'm sold! This was purchased to replace the MTX fluid in my 1998 Contour SVT, which I am confident was still using the original fluid. The tranny had the impression that the previous owner was overjoyed with the power shifts into second gear. The synchro seemed to be on the verge of needing to be replaced. This was something I didn't want to deal with this year. I figured that changing the fluid wouldn't help, but it was long overdue, so I went ahead and did it anyway. I did a quick Google search to see what kind of fluid to use, and this was the one that kept coming up. Now, I've been wrenching for more than 20 years, and anything that smells like "rebuild in a can" makes me extremely skeptical, but I also try to keep an open mind. and since so many people recommended it, I figured it was at least worth a shot. Even if it didn't work, I figured it was still better than the factory stuff. At the very least, it had to be better than the nearly 20-year-old stuff in the car. br>br>Anyway, I gave it a quick drain and replace and took it for a spin, and I was blown away by the difference. The difference was noticeable right away. The car shifted MUCH more smoothly, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. Is it able to shift as if it were brand new? No. The 2nd and 1st gear synchronizers are still showing signs of wear. BUT, it's a million times better than it was before. So much so that I don't see myself ripping into the tranny anytime soon. I don't care if I get better gas mileage or anything else; the fact that it works so much better than it did before would easily be worth twice or even three times what I paid, and I'm a very practical person when it comes to my repairs. All I want is something to work with. And it's true that this works. Anyone doing a fluid change should try this.
I changed the fluid and the next morning it was like a brand new car; it shifted smoothly without any grinding. br>TIPbr> I used a small piece of clear flexible tubing and clamped it onto the tip with a hose clamp, I also wrapped the clamp hose and bottle cap with tape, as a little insurance, and I plugged the other end so I had plenty of time to position the bottle above the fill hole and squeeze the bottle. Wear gloves because it can be a messy.
On a 1999 C5 Corvette with the 6-speed manual transmission, this part was used. T56 manual transmission with 5 speeds. br>br>Prior to switching to Royal Purple, I was having Synchro issues with first gear refusing to fully engage on occasion. br>Since switching, rowing through the gears has been noticeably smoother, and I've had no problems getting it into first gear. br>br>Also, it could just be my imagination, but it feels like the car pulls a little harder under Full Throttle than it did previously. (I changed the differential fluid to RP 75w 90 at the same time, so it could be a mix of new gear oil in both)br>In any case, I'd recommend it.
