Questions & Answers

Is there a limit to the number of slips you can take?

LImited Slip diffs usually necessitate the use of a special additive.

What is the gl rating of the product? gl- 1, gl- 4, or gl- ?

The following information is taken from the Technical Data Sheet: "All GL Classifications are Exceeded: API GL- 4 GL-API API MT- 5 1 MIL-STD-2360 SAE J2360 SAE J2360 SAE J2360 SAE PRF- MACK GO- GO- GO- GO- GO- GO- GO- GO J, PG- 2 Slips are available. " It's the good stuff," says the narrator. I hope this information is useful. Matt

I'm curious if the API is GL compatible. ?

"Application Programming Interface (API) GL-Application Programming Interface (API GL The number 4" does not always imply that it is safe for "yellow metals." Valvoline also goes above and beyond the GL-standard. 4 However, it does not state that it is safe for synchros. Is this compatible with synchros?

Choose it over slightly cheaper thicker fluids because it is a cost-competitive good gear oil
5/5

I ended up needing a quarter quart more than I had anticipated. It was interesting to compare this oil to another brand I bought in a brick and mortar store. The retail brand for the common man ($3) was thicker. It isn't a milkshake, so I hope no one thinks that's better. For the same SAE axle oil, thicker is not always better. Axle oil must move, slung off the inner back cover, and back into the center pumpkin in a specific manner, which could indicate a cruder, less refined product. If you use too much oil, the gears may not be coated as well as you'd like at higher rpms. Another illustration of why a bigger hammer isn't always the best solution.

It's what I use to keep my motorcycle chain in good working order
5/5

For a motorcycle chain, this is the best oil to use. It is superior to wax in terms of effectiveness.

I bought this oil for the final drive on my 2005 V Star 1100 Silverado and it works great
5/5

It's very functional, and I'm happy with it. It's of the same high standard that I've come to expect from Lucas. I would recommend this oil to other V Star owners as a final drive lubricant.

It improved the performance of my LSD
5/5

Only one wheel would spin (8. ) when I used more expensive gear fluid in my limited slip clutch type limited slip differential. 8 Ford) I believe the synthetic was too slippery, causing the clutches to slip. With the friction modifier added, the differential began to work as it should when I changed the fluid to the Lucas.

When it comes to working on MGs, Lucas is unrivaled
5/5

Lucas fluids are all compatible, and they are simply the best in every way. Some of these viscosities are difficult to come by, especially when they're required for older vehicles, but Lucas always comes through, and I'm glad I found it on Amazon.

On my Tacoma, I use differential oil
5/5

12/18/2012br>So far, there have been no issues with this gear oil in my Toyota Tacoma 2010 differential, no chirping or grinding noises, and it does not sound any louder or quieter. If the oil isn't good, I'll come back and edit this review. br>br>3/2/2013br>br>I promised that if the oil wasn't good, I'd come back and edit this review, but this oil is WONDERFUL, no chirping, barking, or grinding in my differentials. As far as I know, Lucas oils are used by East Coast Gear Supply, which sells off-road and competition racing diffs and gears, which is why I bought it for my Tacoma. This oil is amazing. I'll buy another gallon and a half for my 1989 Land Cruiser's two diffs and transfer case when I drive it to another 30k miles. br>br>6/26/2013br>br>I bought another gallon and a half for my 1989 Land Cruiser's two diffs and transfer case. The suv felt a little sluggish when I was driving around to warm up my diffs and transfer case. My SUV felt much more responsive on acceleration after I changed the diff oil and drove it around again; there was no chirping or strange noises. When I first got this Land Cruiser, it had 175k miles on it and when I changed the diff oil, there were a lot of metal shavings, so yes, changing the diff oil made a huge difference in this case. Perhaps the lucas oil had nothing to do with the responsiveness, but my SUV seems to like it. br>br>As for my Tacoma, the differential is quiet and appears to be performing admirably.

Vibrations in the back end of the old Toyota were completely eliminated
5/5

At highway speeds, the back end of my 1990 4Runner felt shaky. In my rearview mirror, I'd notice that my rear glass appeared to be vibrating. The shaking and vibrations were completely gone after I replaced the old gear oil in my rear differential. This stuff is ideal for hypoid gears in older trucks (in my case, a Toyota from the early 1990s). I followed the advice of another reviewer and purchased the Pennzoil gallon pump; do yourself a favor and do the same.

Oil for differential gears of high quality
5/5

Lucas has a reputation for producing high-quality goods. When I found out that I should use dyno-based gear oil instead of synthetic in my Rubicon, I decided to give it a shot. This size container worked perfectly for filling both axles, and the temperature of my differential has dropped by about ten degrees.
