Exactly, that's the purpose for which I purchased this product. I was impressed with the results.
If you are building the motor, I assume that you are the one who does it. Long enough for oil pressure to build should be sufficient for this to stay on the cam.

It is better to buy the 10 oz tube of Sta Lube for the money, versus the 4 oz size, which can cost virtually It is important to shake and knead the tube before applying the lube to the parts to ensure the lube is mixed thoroughly.
I put it all over my new cams and lifters. So far I have not lost a cam. Don't just put it on, break it in properly. It is imperative that this product be used with an oil high in ZDDP for flat tappet cams.
The term "Tube of Lube" is also fun to say.
There was more than enough transmission fluid left in the tube for the whole transmission when I rebuilt the engine for my Suzuki Samurai.
In my Expedition 5, this assembled lube was used for almost all parts when I was replacing roller followers, lash adjusters, and timing chains. Three batteries per liter, four in total.
