Questions & Answers

This appears to be ideal, but can anyone tell me if it's safe to use for reinstalling my brake caliper gaskets and seals in their cylinders?

This is transmission assembly lube. This is NOT the type of brake fluid you want. Brake grease is a good option. This stuff is too thick for brakes and isn't designed for them.

I'm assuming this is for automatic transmissions, but can it be used in manual transmissions as well?

This is what I use to put my manual transmissions together because it's extra sticky and keeps the needle bearings in place in Arizona during the summer when it's too hot for other grease to keep them in place, but it works great and I've been using it for years.

I was told to lube my valves when putting my valvebody together; is this appropriate for lubing the valves and plugs in the vb?

When I put my valve body together, I did the same thing. There were no issues at all, and everything that moved was lubed up for the initial start-up.

Is it true that this product causes rubber to swell?

This is the version with a lot of tack. "Needle bearings and hydraulic seals in place," their product description reads. Also suitable for O- rings, seals, bearings, gaskets, sealing rings, bushings, thrust washers, and a whole lot more." br>Because it's designed to dissolve in transmission fluid or gear oil, I doubt it'll harm rubber any more than the fluid itself.

Excellent product! It's all good
5/5

Always use a lubricant when putting things together. It lubricates until the system you've been working on is capable of providing lubrication to areas with tight tolerances and high loads. A bearing can be ruined in a matter of seconds. It's also very tacky, which makes it ideal for holding items like bearings on main shafts and thrust washers in place. Until you can mate them up against another surface, use paper gaskets. I don't like using adhesives on gaskets because they make it difficult to remove them later. Particularly on soft surfaces such as aluminum, where scratching the mating surface is not an option. It's really good! It's also available in a variety of tackiness formulas. The green, in my opinion, is the most obnoxious. The blue is used by the majority of people. However, this is merely a personal preference that is influenced by the temperature of the environment in which it is used. This is something I would strongly recommend.

The main character in the Transfer Case/Transmission Rebuild
5/5

During a transfer case (Dana 300) and transmission (T-800) overhaul, this stuff saved my sanity. Rebuild (176/177). If you buy this, you won't break down in tears when you hear needle bearings fall out of gears and main shafts. Simply put, reassembling anything with loose bearings is stressful enough without worrying about them falling out. So don't worry, there's a way out.

It's fantastic
5/5

I ordered this because I live in hot weather, and it's the same grease I've used for years, but my shop reached 104 degrees inside, and even this grease couldn't keep needles in place (not the grease's fault, but mine for trying), so I refrigerated them overnight and they worked fine.

Installation of roller bearings is a breeze with this tool
5/5

This was purchased to assist with the installation of 120 roller bearings in a Jeep T18 transmission. Previously, I had always used ice cold Vaseline to keep roller bearings in place, which worked "ok" at best; however, this "Goo" works far better. Purchase a bathtub for yourself. It will last for years and you will be glad you have it when the time comes.

Holds things in place for assembly, making difficult tasks easier
5/5

The 4 speed transmission in my Corvair was rebuilt with this product. This transmission is based on the late 1960s Saginaw transmission for big cars, with some packaging changes. The shift forks are the most important. The rails and forks are all hidden beneath the side cover on the Corvair. You must keep the forks still and connect the linkage beneath the cover to the rails without being able to see anything. This Assemblee Goo kept everything in place without falling out, allowing me to put the cover together on the first try. For me, it usually takes a lot of tries. I can't say enough good things about this product.

Goop is fantastic
4/5

This stuff is fantastic for what it's supposed to be used for. When I was putting together a transfer case, I had to put a lot of needle bearings in the intermediate gears. They must remain in place while you lower the gear assembly into place, then insert the intermediate shaft through the case and gears, with thrust washers on both ends, to complete the process. br>br>With this goop, I was able to stick everything in place and achieve success on the first try without cursing.

Gooey
5/5

It's nice and ooey. It's similar to petroleum jelly in texture. Tanny goo or Petro jelly, according to Rebuild books. The goo is my pick. So far, everything is running smoothly. A single tub will be far more than is required for a complete rebuild.
