The correct product to use for piston assembly is a light coat of brake fluid of the appropriate type (DOT) as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. The DBL-Raybestos is a Raybestos product with a unique design. The caliper's sliding pins are lubricated with 2T. It's the same kind of thing that many manufacturers use for this, and it works great. It's Fuchs 839, according to the MSDS. It's a silicone grease with a lot of PTFE (Teflon) in it. Raydestos is a brake manufacturer rather than a chemical manufacturer. In comparison to many greases, it has a very low toxicity. Before purchasing it, I spoke with Raybestos customer service. It's recommended for all lube-required areas on a brake job, including the boot and seal if you're rebuilding calipers like I am. It wouldn't contaminate the brake fluid, and it wouldn't harm the rubber, I was assured. I've never used a grease with such a high viscosity. It made the new caliper seal and boot extremely slippery, so I used it on them. Getting the boots into the caliper and piston grooves on my double piston front calipers was a real test of patience and vocabulary. This stuff is NGLI 1 or 2, according to Fuchs. I'm guessing it's two. That is the load rating of wheel bearing grease, which means it should be able to withstand a high load, such as at the pads' ends. They also advertise it as anti-squeal for the backs of the pads. Everything I've ever used washed out of the exposed areas eventually. This should be able to last as long as any other. Have you ever attempted to remove silicone grease with soap and water? I'll update my review if I discover any areas where it underperforms the green stuff.
After contacting Raybestos and requesting that the MSDS (material safety data sheet) for their product be emailed to me, I discovered that the MSDS reads as follows: IDENTIFICATION OF THE PRODUCT: PRODUCT MANUFACTURER: CHEMPLEX 839 CHEMPLEX 839 CHEMPLEX 839 CHEMPLEX 839 CHEMPLEX FUCHS LUBRICANTS CO. is a company that specializes in the manufacture of lubricants. AC Delco silicone brake lube is the same product and comes from the same manufacturer. br>br>I then purchased the Raybestos, which is identical to the AC Delco but much less expensive. br>br>The only way to go is with FUCHS CHEMPLEX 839 silicone brake lube. There's no need to use anything else; use it for all of your brake lubrication needs.
It's great for any application that requires lubrication, and it's especially good for rubber and plastic parts because it won't swell them (I used it on my truck's brakes). In addition, the price is reasonable for such a high-quality lube.
This has been on my wish list for a long time. As stated in previous reviews, this is identical to the more expensive Acdelco version and is AMAZING for brake pins! It was well worth the money!.
The only problem is that all of my coworkers believe it's butter in a bottle. Hehehehe, it's a clear, white grease.
a lot of ooey-gooey-gooey-go (This is a technical term. ) gooey It's quite effective. This silicone is much thicker and clingier than regular silicone, which is fantastic. Apart from brakes, I use this stuff for a variety of things. Brush is an excellent addition.
This product is excellent and I enjoy it.
