Questions & Answers
Aluminum and plastic make up the majority of radiators today. Permatex 80030 is an acid cleaner with a lot of power. It is not recommended for use in a radiator made of aluminum.
Yes. Brass and copper were used to make all radiators in the 1960s and early 1970s. In my all-original 1970 Chevelle, I used Permatex 80030.
It's a great cleaner, and if you've ever used Stop Leak, it'll get rid of it so you can find the hole.
John C, how are you doing? br>Please accept my apologies, but I never had the opportunity to try out the product because it was deemed unsafe for use on aluminum radiators and motors. With that in mind, I believe it should be able to remove scale from the tops of tubes (especially since the acidity can wear away aluminum). I realize that this does not 'quite' answer your question, but it is my opinion. Please accept my apologies for not being of greater assistance. br>Wishing you the best of luck!

It is just muriatic acid in water (20% hydrochloric acid%). I thought this was a one-of-a-kind opportunity. I even spent money on one. We needed same-day shipping to complete the project. When it arrived, I was surprised to see on the label that it was simply hydrochloric acid in water, also known as muriatic acid - Muriatic acid is much less expensive and can be found in any hardware store. br>br>The bottle I received was not sealed in a plastic bag or packaged in any other way - In a box, there's just a rattling plastic bottle. I'm glad it didn't leak and stain/etch/ruin everything in its vicinity. br>br>Just in case you didn't know - The specific gravity, according to the MSDS, is 1. 1 - that could be 20% hydrochloric acid in water The HCL range is 10% to 40%, according to the MSDS.
Flushed the system on a 2002 Silverado and it worked perfectly.
Excellent product, and it arrived in a timely manner.
My antique car had been overheating to the point where I could only drive short distances because of it. I'd tried other cleaning products for the cooling system before, but they didn't work very well. The Permatex Heavy Duty Radiator Cleaner was used, and a significant amount of "gunk" was removed from the system. I flushed the system with clear water several times before installing a Gano Filter (autocoolantfilter) on the inlet hose. com/). The Gano filter had caught an incredible amount of debris that the cleaner had worked loose after 150 miles. My Model A Ford is now cool and clean to drive.
My old 66's radiator was thoroughly cleaned, but it continues to overheat. It could be too far gone to clean, or I could try a different flush. It did, however, get a lot more gunk out than the other brand I was using previously.
This is a product that I've been using for a long time. It's the only cleaner I've found that actually works in my opinion. This is a fantastic deal, and it will be delivered right to my door. Thanks.
For radiators made of aluminum, this is not the case.
