On a 2013 crf 450, I've never had a problem.
Yes, you can put the straw in the can and it will eat all of the nasty stuff out while remaining safe.
Yes, it cleans commutators and brushes; however, it is extremely flammable (read the warning on the can) and should not be used near an ignition source, such as starter motor brushes that may be arching as the motor runs.

It works great on my dirt bike, and I use it to clean out the excess oil from my bolts and screens when I change the oil. I also use it to clean my airbox of any excess residue. This is a product that I will buy again and again.
Cleaning parts that are extremely dirty or greasy is a breeze with this product.
Unfortunately, I received Electrical Contact Cleaner, which is a different formula than what was advertised in the ad. If you're looking for the real deal, be warned.

It really works. The oily carbon buildup on aircraft prop deice slip rings simply pours off, leaving the area spotless. More will be ordered. Stay upwind, as mentioned by another reviewer. Vapors have a lot of power. Right now, I'm smelling the color of the sounds I'm hearing.
