Though the brushes and wire cleaners look useful for cleaning light materials, they don't look quite as durable as the soap. However, the wire’s cleaners are too soft when it comes to heavy crusting deposits, such as those found in carburetor passages that have been sat for a long time. While the sizes are a good variation for smaller carburetor work, the smallest size is not small enough. As someone who does a lot of carburetor rebuilding, I am not sure if these will hold up or work, as they are only made up of two strands of wire that are twisted tightly together. I don't mean to be overly critical, I'm merely trying to provide information to those who request The brushes in this set seem like they will work just fine and were the main reason I purchased this set.
There was no problem with the quality and the price was reasonable. My plans for them included cleaning motorcycle carb jets, but they turned out to be too big for the job. Having said that, the only thing I find they are useful for is cleaning the mold off of the nectar openings of my hummingbird feeders. My hummers appreciate that very much. Maybe you could clean an old GM quadrapuke with them if you're cleaning carb jets on an old automobile.
Having these can save your life. Trying to rebuild catbs has given me mixed results. It is usually compressed air I use to clean the ports, but I was curious about these tools. An old edelbrock 1405 that I had put aside for years was cleaned. Then I gave these a try after cleaning them, soaking them, blowing air over them, and finally ompressed airing them. There was a lot of stuff coming out of the ports that surprised me. Once I put it on the truck again, I can start it easily and it runs as well as before. This is going to be my new standard.
I think this is a good set of cleaners, but they could be improved just a bit. There is a problem with the wire only cleaners in that their ends are not cut smoothly, and they are prone to little burrs that prevent them from fitting into the holes that they are supposed to The burrs on the screws were filed off, and they worked fine after that. The carburetor on my car has been cleaned and it's running well.
They were very simple A pretty good score. As a general rule, I did not need them. These can be used if you have used carb cleaner first. When you spray carb cleaner into the small holes on the carburetor make sure it comes out of the other hole. Unless you have your little red hose attached, spray carb cleaner into all the small holes. Generally, when you spray at it, it is likely clogged and you have to run these through it.
Those are the pads I bought to clean My assumption was that the smallest ones would clean the firing hole, but unfortunately they are still too big for that purpose. As well as the breach plug, the other one is good for Although I hesitated to purchase the product because its advertised use is not what I intend to use it for.
The case in point did not occur. Using a compressed air can and what I found in the kit, I was able to clean the carbon and other debris out of the parts. Using a small file, I reshaped the flame sensor and we have heat again!!.
In my opinion, this set represents excellent value given the price and the fact that all of the pieces are on a loop so that they do not separate when stored. The lawn mowers I repair for other people (just for fun) will get a lot of use out of them.
