It is a mistake to mix the coloured coolants. I mean, long-life coolants are green, and super coolants are blue.
It is well known that Subaru flat fours leak their head gaskets. In addition to providing a buffer between the cylinder and the cooling system, the head gasket also protects the radiator from dirt and debris. Due to the flat design of the engine, the bottoms of the heads are in contact with coolant, which may cause the gaskets to deteriorate. Subaru developed its Super Coolant to ensure that gaskets will not leak and gasoline consumption will not increase. I use Subaru coolant and change it every 50,000 miles because of this. The "normal" cars I drive do not have that feature.
As early as a few thousand miles into the vehicle (enough time to be certain all the air has been let out of the cooling system), you can, as well as typically should, top off with distilled or DI water. The amount of water you lose from the mix depends on your specific driving conditions, so it's normal to lose water over time. Only under the conditions of a sudden loss in levels or some other of the signs of leaking antifreeze did I top off with fresh coolant.

Don't just open this and pour it in your radiator at random. You need to be very cautious. As a result of my order, I received a different item instead of the "Genuine Subaru SOA868V9270 Super Coolant. " item. Upon receiving the Subaru Professional Use Long Life Coolant (SOA868V9210), I received a prompt response. There is no equivalent between these two It is not possible to use Long Life Coolant in my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek as the manual specifically instructs me to only use As shown in the attached photos, the part number is clearly listed on the back of the product, but the seller and/or Amazon's barcode sticker on the side has the incorrect part number The number 9270 instead of -1270 There can be no return of this item since it is Fortunately, I was still able to receive a refund.
In response to my order of two bottles of this stuff, I received one bottle of "super coolant 50/50 prediluted" (one bottle I wanted) and one Make sure that you are aware of what you are receiving.
I am leaving a review only so I can add a few details that the seller did not provide
This coolant should only be used in Subaru models that are In addition, this liquid should not be mixed with any other coolant, even the Subaru green coolant, since it has a gasket conditioner in it that may cause a leak. The Subaru head gasket needs to be of a certain model to keep the head gasket from failing.
It is the wrong coolant. It is obvious that I should have taken the reviews more seriously. Despite its description, the coolant that was shipped was the "Long Life" and NOT the "Super Coolant". My immediate reaction was to send this back to the seller and warn anyone else who may purchase this coolant that it probably won't be what you needed. It is possible to cause damage to the vehicle if you use this coolant. Don't let your guard down! It would have been wise to pick up the correct coolant in the beginning. I will do so at the dealer tomorrow. Thanks a lot. Edit your sentence. It is a possibility that you will receive the wrong coolant until they fix what is shipped.
My 2016 WRX STI has been topped off. *If you want to have the Subaru coolant last 137K miles / 11 years or something crazy like that, you'll just need this SuperCoolant, and top it off once in a while. You don't need a flush before you sell the Subaru.
Despite having a full coolant reservoir, we still needed to top off the coolant in our 2015 Crosstrek, since it was below the 'low' line. The owner's manual states the only acceptable coolant for Subarus is Super Coolant, but it turned out that I could not locate the OEM coolant. This was a product I found here, and despite the $30+ price tag, I begrudgingly purchased it. In any case, I have topped off the coolant reservoir with it, and it seems to be working just fine.
Subaru, thanks for your assistance.
