Questions & Answers

Which type of coolant is better between the "long life" sort and the "super coolant" type?

In the long life coolant, the color is green, and the super coolant, the color, is blue. It is not recommended you mix the two

Compared with regular, old Prestone ethyl glycol, in what way does this one differ? The price is three times higher for what? Why is it that way? Does it really matter just because it's blue?

It is a well-known fact that Subaru flat fours have leaky head gaskets. In addition to providing a barrier between the cylinder and the cooling system, the head gasket also provides temperature control. The flat engine is basically swimming in coolant, so the bottom of the heads live in the coolant, which could cause the gasket to deteriorate. I heard Subaru developed their Super Coolant to prevent leaks by preserving gaskets. I change the Subaru coolant every 50,000 miles because I use Subaru coolant. The "normal" cars I have don't allow me to do that.

Do you think you can top off with a few drops of water?

It is not at all unreasonable to top off the vehicle's cooling with distilled or DI water once it has a few thousand miles on it (enough time to ensure all the air has been removed). There will be some loss of water from the mix over time, but the precise amount depends on your If I noticed a sudden drop in coolant level or some other sort of evidence of leaking antifreeze, I would top the coolant off with fresh coolant.

What do I do with a 2016 Crosstrek if I want to top it ?

To get the full mark, I would just add.

It is very important that you confirm the Part Number of the product before applying it to your radiator
3/5

Do not blindly open the package and pour it. It's very important to be In your place, I received a different item that you advertised as genuine Subaru SOA868V9270 Super Coolant. Upon receiving "Subaru Professional Use Long Life Coolant" (SOA868V9210), I was amazed at its quality. In no way are these items equivalent. Long Life Coolant is not compatible with my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, as it is stated in the manual that only Super Coolant can be used. The word - should be replaced with 9270 Due to the restricted nature of the item, you cannot return it. Unfortunately I would not have been able to get a full refund, but I still got a partial refund.

Two bottles of this stuff were ordered, but I only received one
3/5

Despite ordering two bottles of this stuff, I left with two bottles of "super coolant 50/50 prediluted" (which I really wanted) and one Make sure you are aware of the content.

A coolant that is blue in color
5/5

In addition to adding a little bit of information that the seller did not include in the description, I would like to point out that this coolant should only be used for Subarus from model years Also, it shouldn't be mixed with any other type of coolant, even the green Subaru coolant, because it contains a gasket conditioner that may ruin the engine. The Subaru head gasket need to be fitted to a particular model to prevent.

NO SUPER COOLANT received -- it was the wrong kind of coolant
3/5

My mistake, I should have listened to the reviews more closely. This is the "Long Life" coolant that PHYSICALLY SHIPS - NOT the "Super Coolant" shown in the images and description. This was immediately sent back, and I warn anyone else who purchases it to beware that it may be the wrong coolant. It is possible to do harm to the vehicle if this coolant is used. You should be wary! On Wednesday, I'm headed to the dealer and picking up the correct coolant, which I should have done previously. Thanks so much. Edit the following. As long as they don't fix the coolant shipped, you could receive incorrect fluid.

I crossed mountains in over 118 degrees Fahrenheit with no problems! After driving 118 degrees in extreme heat with my 2014 Subaru Forester, I crossed high mountains in it from Phoenix to Las Vegas roundtrip, despite its having 200+k miles
5/5

My engine did not overheat at all. My car was overheating on the way back from Phoenix to Las Vegas in 2019, and I was so worried in the middle of the desert and it was so hot that I went to a shop and they flushed the coolant, but I did not know what they added to the radiator. In my car, I didn't get overheated when I put the Subaru SUPER COOLANT in this year. I injected the old coolant and made sure to flush it afterward! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!.

The stuff is factory made
5/5

My 2016 WRX STI has been topped off. It's amazing how long these factory coolants last in Subarus with 137K miles or 11 years . Get a bottle of SuperCoolant and top it off every so often. You may not need to flush it before selling the car.

A cooling agent designed by the OEM
5/5

It had run below the 'low' line on the coolant reservoir on our 2015 Crosstrek, and needed to have its coolant topped off. As indicated in the manual, Subaru Super Coolant is the only coolant to use for these vehicles. It proved to be harder to find the OEM coolant. This item was found here, and despite the $30+ price tag, I purchased it. It seems to be doing what it ought to do after I topped off the coolant reservoir with it.

It shouldn't be necessary to buy a proprietary coolant for Subarus
