Questions & Answers
You won't necessarily notice a difference with your lifter if you use this oil. Using an oil that is heavier or one that is designed for "high mileage" vehicles may be effective. Among other things You may want to experiment with STP oil additives. *BTW, I would be wary of how the high zinc content of this oil will impact
In short, yes. There is a SAE 10w-designation clearly visible on the front of the container
That would amount to a 17 percent difference.
For the 289 motor in 1967, this would be an excellent oil.
Selected User Reviews For Lucas Oil LUC10679 10679 10W-30 Petroleum Oil - 5 Quart Jug
The traditional five-watt bulb was changed for a 21-watt one To this 10w-30 oil, add 30 ml of oil The 30 synthetic was chosen because I wanted better protection and faster cleaning of synthetics as well as added zinc for an old 1966 f100 with a 352 v8 Ford FE. After it warmed up, my engine started making a knocking noise as well as the valves were louder than they ever were. It really was difficult for me to like this oil, so I turned back to my conventional 10w-40 The sound is as good as new with a zinc additive on the 40.
All new motor oils are no longer infused with zinc, a fact not widely known to the majority of car owners. It is vital to the operation of a classic car to have zinc. I need zinc to give my 1967 Mustang an extra level of lubrication. If you own a classic car, I highly recommend this product.
My first concern when reading the reviews was that people were exaggerating what they said about this product. I have a high performance Small Block Chevy stroked out to a 396 cubic inch engine. Being that it has a flat tappet cam, I need to use a high level zinc oil. Due to all the hoops I had to jump through, I figured I'd try the Lucas brand instead of Mobil 1 From what I've read, it seems fine to me. A few minutes after changing the oil and filter, I took the Camaro for a ride. Compared to the previous engine, the new one runs so much smoother. There was no doubt about it. It's still amazing how much the difference has made.
This is one of the best oils out there. This product can be hard to find at box stores. On Amazon, you could find it for less. I have some older cars and I'm very picky about who I use and what products I use to maintain them. Gh thanks for your service. I will purchase more and will recommend your products. Thanks / Regards.
This is a great accessory for older Classic cars are used with this.
This is the first oil I used after breaking it in on my SBC 350, old school flat tappet, the engine is still on the test stand so I have not driven it yet, but I want to keep using it in the future. Oil and filters are two of the most important maintenance items.
This is a must for old school engines with flat tappet camshafts. The oil is still available, a better alternative to adding zinc to modern oils. There is no local store where you can find this, so Amazon has the lowest price and fastest.
A shift and a sprint.
