I used these four times in snow and once on ice with mixed results. They seem to help in snow, but did not work on ice (had to break off bits of ice with a metal shovel(board would not lay flat) before they were broken and left unusable. The snow plows do help cars get unstuck from snow, but not always on the first attempt. Although digging, relocating them, and pushing from behind the car are still required, this is less digging and pushing than having no boards or ramps Getting hit in the shins by one of them would be pretty painful so stay away from the front or back of the car if possible. Pushing the car from behind is also pretty effective slow throttle acceleration paired with a small push from behind usually gets the car caught. However, their price makes them really tempting to buy next winter even though they are small compared to other big recovery boards.
