Although the belt does not need to connect to a helmet or chest protector to fit, with the leash and back attachments in the belt, it can connect to the front of the chest protector. She snapped the rubber leash after wearing it only twice. The leash must have been dragged around by her for a long time to get it off.
If they happen to be average sized, yes I believe it will work. I am looking for a room for my 8-year-old daughter
There is no size one
The set will not fit a 4 year old, nor do I think it will fit any child under 10 years old. This is the first thing I got for my 4 year old. A 5yr old who is big for his age wore the shirt and it fit him perfectly. It fitted comfortably around my neck, I am 6'4 240 pounds, and I cannot imagine how it would feel with a heavier person.

Before purchasing this, I read some conflicting reviews so I thought I'd provide some insight to future purchasers of this product. The picture below shows my five year old son wearing this neck guard. He wears a size 4t, weighs 36 lbs, and is 41" Despite his small size, he's still very sweet. It is a perfect fit for him in youth one size. The helmet he wears is made for youth mediums, and he has range of motion and can move his head without being hindered by a neck brace. I would highly recommend it.
Other chest protectors can be used with this product, according to EVS. This is a plug-and-play device for my son who has a Fox protector. For some reason, I had to cut the hole out of the Fox rig to leave room for the bolts that came with the neck brace. The bottom of his helmet gets in the way of pivoting back and forth, and my son complains that the headband interferes with it. The reason for this is clear to me- There is too much height on it. Besides it being 35$ and already drilled holes in the chest rig, the only reason I kept it was because I kept drilling holes in it. My recommendation would not be to do it.
Several of the parts needed to make my child's safety and comfort a priority were not supplied with this product. Upon receiving the product, our knowledge of 'exactly' what we were supposed to receive was completely lacking. Zip ties were used to keep the neck brace attached to his chest protector while we used it a few times. One by one parents questioned our method until we finally had another parent question it. It was discouraging to find out we were missing all possible ways of attaching In the future, customer service will ensure that it is passed along to the right people.
The stability of the 4x4 wheels has not been tested in a crash environment, but it appears that it works properly as a layer of insurance. His weight is 85 lb, but he is still growing, so he can grow more.
