There is no one on the market who is better. br>These knee pads are extremely comfortable, and their hook and loop system makes it simple to secure them. br>I've been using them for 4 to 5 hours straight and they've never let me down. br>As they came crashing down on a hill, I felt down on a rock directly on my knee, thinking I had broken my knee or something worse, but it wasn't. I miraculously didn't get a scratch because they absorb the entire impact. They saved me a few dollars in hospital bills and several days of recuperation. br>The plus is their shin protection, which is essential for me, especially when I'm downhilling on loose and gravel terrain, where a stone will always hit my shin and cause me to bleed, but they're no longer a problem, and if you use platform pedals, it's your best investment, I swear.
I tried them on and bought them in both small and medium sizes, one for my son and one for myself. After only 3 miles of riding, we both couldn't stand having them on. The back of my knee felt like it was on fire, and the skin had become red and irritated. While they appear to provide adequate protection, if they cause discomfort when riding on a standard trail, they are not something you will want to wear on a regular basis. I contacted Fox to see if they had any suggestions for resolving this, but I have yet to receive a response. If I can't resolve this, I'll have to return both of them and find another way to protect my knees and shins.
The large fits well, but the stretch appears to be wearing out after a few wears. DO NOT TRUST FOX MEASURES BECAUSE THEY ARE WRONG.
See my review for more information. Apart from that, everything appears to be fine. When I purchased these, I double-checked the measurements on Fox's website. I took a measurement of my leg. It was considered "medium" by the judges. I didn't think I could wear a medium, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. When it arrived, I realized that a medium would not fit my leg. Not by a long shot. The knee strap would be so tight that blood flow would be cut off. After pulling maximum tension, the calf and shin straps would connect, but the velcro wouldn't fully overlap the connecting fuzzy strip. I'm pretty sure I measured my leg correctly, given that I teach Anatomy and build musical instruments. I had no choice but to return it to the seller, who I pity. It is Fox's fault, not theirs. Apart from the tightness, they felt good when I tried them on, but because they were so tight, I didn't ride or move around much with them. I'm 5'11. 195lbs. 15 3/4" in the thigh, 15 1/4" in the calf.
During a ride this morning, I burned the backs of my knees. They're being returned. I chose these because I've never been disappointed by Fox Head products.
It's excruciatingly painful. It causes a lot of discomfort. If you want to torture yourself, buy this one; it pinches the back of my knee the entire ride. Also, the sizing is terrible. I returned it and purchased a Raceface, which was a little pricey but well worth it.
High-quality, lightweight, and comfortable. The fabric around the pads appears to be too thin to use for housework or any other application that requires you to put weight on your knees, but they're as good as it gets for riding protection.
As previous reviews have stated, this is extremely uncomfortable at the back of the knee. I believe this is because the belch edges irritate the strap and cause it to rub against the skin. Perhaps you were fortunate enough to receive a better unit or have a tougher skin:.
