Yes - They work great with full height MX boots, they just barely overlap and cause no discomfort.br>I'm wearing mine out riding right now as I type this.
I'd recommend the large/extra large size if you're an adult. To give you an idea of my size, I'm 5'10" and weigh 155 pounds. The other size is more likely to fit the legs of children. Because my upper thigh usually falls into the large/extra large sizing range on knee pads, I buy them in that size. The pair I got differs from the photo in that the upper portion is closer to the lower portion and has a wider attachment point. They do, however, function properly.

So there's no need to be afraid of the big guys. They're a little tight on the lower strap (calf), but a little extra Velcro from Walmart would fix that; it's not a big deal for me. Don't be concerned about the thigh; I have a large thigh and it fits perfectly. br>br>All right, the knee and upper shin padding is fantastic. My wife put it to the test with a few golf club swings. They also provide protection to your inner calf and thigh. But, in that case, do I really require impact protection? Perhaps I'll put the right on top of the left and use them for outer leg protection, as this appears to be the most likely scenario. br>br>Is it possible to take a deep breath? Oh no, not at all. Hot knees, on the other hand, have never been an issue for me. br>br>Do you feel at ease? I'm aware that it exists, but it only makes me feel safer. It isn't the softest. br>br>Is it worth it? I'm new to motorcycles and am having a great time with them. I'll eventually drop it, and then it'll be priceless.
Except for one thing, these are excellent additions to the Alpinestars security system. Guys like me, who are built like lumberjacks and have larger thighs, knees, and calves - The low-cost Velcro straps are intended for men with shorter legs. br>br>However, us bigger dudes ride, @Alpinestars, and we need/want comfortable gear as well. The Velcro straps are too short, cutting into your legs, knees, and calves. br>br>I still wear them because they provide excellent protection and fit perfectly with my AS boots, but the edges cut into your skin after a few minutes, making them extremely uncomfortable. I'm getting distracted from the itching by messing with them as they try to relax. br>br>I'm going to pay to have mine modified to fit my needs and make it more comfortable. br>br>Alpinestars gear isn't cheap, but it's great gear that's well worth the money; however, a few more dollars in R&D would be nice. The letter D would be the deciding factor. Personally, I am willing to pay a little more, and I am aware that I am not alone. br>If anyone from Alpinestars R&D is reading this, I'd appreciate it if you could send me an email. If D notices this, please contact me because I have a plan to turn this product from good to great.
I bought the XL version of this product, and it's so comfortable that I don't even notice it when I'm riding. I wear them under my relaxed-fit pant legs, which give me plenty of room for the pads. I wear them on the opposite sides of the body than they are labeled for, as another reviewer pointed out. because if I have an accident, the extra flap on the bottom will protect the outside of my lower legs I'm pleased with these pads in general. They appear to be effective shields - I'm hoping I won't have to find out any time soon.
Instead of using insert pads that always seem to move around, I bought these to wear under my riding jeans. They stay in place and are very comfortable because they are attached to the thyroid leg rather than the pants. There is also a lot of airflow. Insert pads can become extremely hot, causing me to sweat profusely.
For me, these are sufficient. Mtn biking and inline skating are two of my favorite things to do with them. They're light and have a good amount of ventilation. When summer arrives, I'll be forced to wear other knee pads because they're far too hot. They don't even come close to riding down my leg. They also don't require me to slip them over my feet, so I don't have to wear them to and from the trail.
They're a little bulky and a little long, resting just above the boot, but they're comfortable and made of some soft material, so they're not made of hard plastic. I think it's a great deal for the price, and it'll help with low-speed crashes.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, other than it to look like the picture, but when you stand up, the pad acts as one piece that sticks out a long way and the straps come undone. Others have commented on how short the straps are, and I agree. They're also useless for walking in. They're fine as long as you're seated.
The Velcro tab that secures the guard to your leg ripped the first time you used it. If I pay to ship the item back to the manufacturer, they will repair it. I asked for (and received) a simple replacement, but they refused.
