Questions & Answers
You will need to purchase a larger size.
Shoulder and elbow armor are included. A foam pad for the back is included in a pocket, but no real armor is included. As a replacement, consider the Forcefield 002.
It all depends on how you layer things. It's a nice jacket that fits true to size, but I ordered a large tall in the wrong size. It's enough to have the legend on the torso and sleeves. I'm 6'5" and weigh around 170 pounds, and our chests are about the same size.
The Ion jacket and Ion pants are connected by an eight-inch zipper.

I've been wearing Joe Rocket mesh jackets for nearly two decades. I wore one when I lowsided a few years ago and it saved my skin, so I'll keep using them. br>Airflow is good, though the non-removable hood is a pain. The mesh on the forearms is a bit strange. There are numerous pockets, allowing you to store your belongings. I haven't tried the liner on this jacket yet, so I can't comment on its effectiveness, but I have several jackets for various weather conditions, so I may never use it. Overall, the fit is quite good. Having a few tweaks in the mid-section It would be nice if the upper torso could be tightened to bring the body closer together, but the waist and arm adjustments are adequate. br>I really like the color. So much motorcycle gear is black, and while that's all cool and hip in the winter, wearing it in the US South in the summer saps your energy. br>The other thing that strikes me as odd is that in my previous Phoenix, the jacket had loops along the back to keep it from riding up. One of the Phoenix Ion's has loops in the front (which don't always ride up, but whatever) and a zipper in the back for attaching to their own gear, and it's useless. If you want to put loops on the front, that's fine, but loop the back of the jacket to keep the back padding in place because I don't know many people who wear the same brand of clothing everywhere. br>I'm thinking about replacing the back pad with something thicker, but I'm not sure yet.
It appears to be a little tighter than my previous Joe Rocket mesh, but I'm 49 now, so that's to be expected. I'm high- I'm 6'4" and ride a Road King, and I'm waisted. It may not be long enough in the trunk for people who are taller or ride a sport bike, but the ease with which the armor can be removed without turning it inside out is remarkable. Even with the mesh, I sweat when riding in DFW traffic during the summer. As a result, I have to wash it on a regular basis. The armor's outside zippers are the real deal! br>br>Here are some summer hacks that might be useful to you. 1) I cut the heart out of the back armor's outside wings, leaving an inch-long outline to keep it upright in its pocket. Although it compromises the armor a little, the back armor isn't CE anyway, so I left about a 5-inch wide center section intact. br>2) I removed the inside belt loops as close to the jacket as possible. This leaves you with a 4-inch ribbon with male and female snaps on both ends. The male and female snaps were then snapped onto the wrists' corresponding snaps, and the wrists were then unzipped. This creates a beautiful funnel that scoops air up the arms. The forearm snaps are used to secure the forearm portion of the jacket as well as the elbow armor, ensuring that the armor is secure in the event of a fall. br>br>Of course, both of these hacks/mods compromise the jacket's design, so you must decide whether or not to risk it, but it does keep things a little cooler. br>br>However, why did it only get four stars? Any of the larger iPhones will not fit in the phone pocket.
Because I wanted it to be a summer jacket, I took out both inner liners. It's great that there's so much natural light. A Forcefield Pro Lite K Back Insert was used in place of the foam spine protector that came with it (which provided very little protection). 002 is the smallest size available. It's also a perfect fit. I usually wear a large, but these jackets are oversized - I got a medium and it's just right. The only thing I'd change is the number of "Joe Rocket" logos. However, it appears that this is a common occurrence with motorcycle clothing in general.
I'm new to motorcycles and the gear that goes with them, so I don't know how this stacks up against the competition. Given its function, I was expecting a utilitarian fit rather than something comfortable, but this jacket is extremely comfortable and stylish. I'm not new to the struggle of finding clothes that fit my 6'7" 230 pound frame. I don't shop for what I like or want; instead, I shop for size and (reluctantly) order whatever comes up because my options are so limited. br>br>This jacket's look and fit, combined with the fact that my size was available, was one of those rare occasions when everything fell into place. When the liner is in, it fits perfectly; when it is removed, it is a little loose. My inseam is 36", so go from there if you're a tall guy trying to figure out if it'll fit. I don't have my torso measurements handy, but if you're (close to) my height/inseam, the tall will fit your torso and arms perfectly. Armor eventually finds its way to its proper location. If your weight is comparable, go with the XL.
This is an amazing jacket. I've been riding for 20 years and have only owned leather. This is my very first mesh jacket, and I couldn't be happier with it. In the hot SoCal weather, it's super light and cool as can be. Also, you have a very attractive appearance. Armor remains in its proper place. I haven't used the insulated or rain liners yet, but I am confident that they will perform admirably. My only gripe is that my Samsung Galaxy S9 does not fit into the phone pocket. It might if I take off the Otter case, but I can't because my phone is constantly crashing against concrete. This is a great summer jacket!.
I bought it after watching a YouTube video that recommended it. I'm glad I did. In the sweltering heat of Texas, all I need is a T-shirt to keep cool. Under it is a shirt. Because the jacket is mesh, it allows for plenty of airflow. The other day, I was caught in the rain without the waterproof liner in my bag. My sleeves were dripping with water! Keep in mind that I'm on a Can Am Spyder. I was driving on Beltway 8 in Houston when I was hit by a torrential downpour of road spray. I was fine, and this purchase has made me very happy.
Everywhere you look there is a logo. br>Consbr>The logo of the company is plastered all over the place. Everyone should be compensated for being a walking billboard for this jacket. br>Torso is too short (I'm 54 in a DAINESE AIR FRAME D1 and this is an M for me)br>Arms are too wide (I have 17 biceps and these are probably designed for the Hulk). br>I'm not a fan of the silver colorway. Only the silver is mesh, and the rest is a filthy greenish grayish color that no one knows what it is! Two stars for: br>br> br>Comes with a liner and a thermal vest. br>Excellent attention to detail. The belt loops, small zipper tabs, sunglasses pocket, and so on are all made of neoprene. br>The Mandarin collar is made of neoprene. This will aid in sweat removal. br>I really like how the armour pockets can be accessed from outside.
