The overall length is how many feet? How about 5")?

Does the nylon part have a specific color? I can't tell by looking at the picture. Do you know if this is patterned as well as brown?

Rather than a plain blue and red set, I got one with a pattern. But the colors blend in with everything else, and I don't really notice them.

Can you tell me the size of the buckle on the cheek pieces?

There are a lot of things that I don't understand about There is no difference in size between the buckle and the strap. It can be fitted to a lot of different horses since the cheek pieces are adjustable.

What is the best way to attach this to ?

A rope 'knot' is attached to each ring at the end you simply need to untie the knot The bits are looped through the rings, the rope is put on the bit, and the rope is re-looped The loop should be done. I love how it works!

Rope pieces that are very wide and long and are cheaply made

The Amazon page for this product does not allow you to select the size, but due to the number of reviews for the product that mentioned that it was sized well for horses, I assumed the Amazon page only had HORSE size available for this product. Not at all! No doubt it was oversize!
Regardless of size, the buckles on the gag cheek are very wide, so any normal-sized mouth will not be able to wear them. A bridle with a cheek piece the size of that on the horse fits the buckle snugly with room to spare. The buckle, however, becomes very unstable when attached to the cheek piece, and the attachment slides around the horse's cheek far too much to be comfortable. The rope components for the buckle and the cheek piece are both wide, stiff ropes. This wide rope rests awkwardly on the gag bit itself because of its wide width. It would be nice if I could say that this was a bang for your buck, but it's more of a bust.

I broke the leather keeper after the first use of such a cheaply made product

The leather keeper separated from the stitching at the first use due to poor quality I learned from this experience. The quality of what you get depends on the price you pay.

Wear and tear caused the rope to become ineffective

One month of use was enough for the rope to wear out. A new pair of shoes will now need to be purchased. Despite the leather holding up on one side, the rope has worn out on one side.

A dark color is pleasing to the eye

My perfect match for the flat leather piece, I like the dark color and its close attachment to the rope with plenty of stitching. For the price, this seems to be very well made.
