I've tried it and it Though I was a bit worried about it not fitting, it did fit my 6 year old, who is about 48" tall and averagely thin

As far as protective gear goes, I recommend a helmet, gloves, Since I don't have enough money to get a fully enclosed helmet, I opted for an open face helmet and goggles.
