My decision between this and the $75 dollar options out there was tough when I was trying to decide which chest protector to buy. I have used plenty of cheap ones before, and don't get me wrong, they were not bad, but they got uncomfortable after a while. Today was the first time I used my new Troy Lee Designs chest protector, and I must say that it was totally worth it. fit of the base line was excellent at first. I made the adjustments in a matter of seconds and they were super easy. In fact, it was impossible to tell that I was even wearing clothing when riding. My opinion is that this is an adequate amount of protection.
In the picture you can see a messy seam, poor stitching, a smeared logo, and glue oozing out. The service is functional, but could be improved. If I hit the chest plate with anything, I'll pass out. The front stops right at my solar plexus, so if anything hits me I'll lose My main back plate ends at the base of my shoulder blades, and the jointed section protects my spine just below the ribs, but there is no protection for my lower back or tailbone. You won't be able to use this if you tip your rig back on you, only when you impact.

Be careful when cleaning/washing your hands. Although it is tough for riding, it is delicate to wash.
In summer, I almost never wear my coat because it was too hot to use it. My weight is 5'10" and I weigh 170lbs. This is very light weight, breathes well, I forget I have it on most of the time. I am very happy with it, I ordered a medium, it fits well, but I do think a large would be better for the coverage. Overall, I am very pleased with it.
