It is true, but the 110/90- will work on that bike According to specs, it should be 18.
The tire is reportedly compatible with that bike based on what I found on Google. I'm not sure if the radial or bias tires on the sportster are used. I know the shinko has bias ply

Selected User Reviews For Shinko 712 Front Tire (100/90-18)
A Shinko tire is fitted to the front of my Moto Guzzi SP2 touring bike, an old school touring bike. I like Shinko tires because they offer solid engineering, good durability, and a good price. This vehicle is great in all kinds of weather, and it gets great gas mileage. I would like to thank Longhorn Moto for keeping their prices low and shipping my tire the same day I ordered it.
The bike handles just as well as it did with Metzelers, however I only had it on the bike a few weeks so cannot comment on its durability.
The front is still in service, and the rear has been ordered. My decision to replace them with the same tire will probably be the same.
The 100/90-card is in my possession The 18 is paired with the I've looked at the 18 Rear Tire and it looks like it will be a good fit for my I have ridden it a few times and it performs wonderfully. It also looks great. Until I see how they wear, I cannot comment.
Did not need balancing. Much easier to install than it was to remove the old tire.
An excellent price for a quality tire.
As of now, I haven't had a long enough experience to comment on mileage. I have not tested it yet, but it seems to be fine. Good.
The review I posted on the 110/90H- doesn't need to be revised My goal was to find a 90/90-sized Shinko 712 tire, but I had a hard time finding one A Shinko 712 is in stock anywhere with 18 in it. Therefore, I snagged this one since I had heard that a 100/90 is a good test As I was riding the bike for the first 10 miles or so, I started to think I had made a mistake as the bike seemed skittier than usual during tire breaking As a result, nothing like that happened. The bike starts out pretty squishy but after a couple of hundred miles of riding and some ginger cornering, I find it rides wonderfully, even with the slightly over-sized front tire. I had no problem mounting this tire and it had plenty of clearance for the fender. My experience has not revealed any obvious increase in speed wobble or any other nasty side effects that can come from making alterations to It is a superb value tire that is very durable and performs well on a bike with lighter wheels. I recommend it highly to anybody looking for an excellent tire with superior performance.
