I've had to buy this brand a few times before and the story is always the same: bought in March, blown out in August. Life expectancy is extremely short. I've had to change them so many times that I can now change them as quickly as an Indy pit crew member. I'm actively looking for a better brand, and when I do, I'll let you know.
When I received the bulbs, I was dismayed to see the rated life on them. br>br>On the website, there is no information about the bulb's rated life. br>br>The information on the back of the package is as follows. Sylvania Xtravision bulbs have a shorter product life than Basic bulbs because they are designed to provide better downroad performance. Every year, the average driver uses their low beam headlights for 100 hours. br>br>If you buy these bulbs, expect to have to replace them in 1 year. 5 years.
Purchased to replace the low beam bulb in a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta (both high and low beams use the same H7 bulb). br>br>Installation was simple (though this is obviously dependent on your make/model rather than the bulb itself). During installation, avoid touching the bulb with your fingers to avoid shortening its life. br>br>I've replaced lights on all of my or my family's vehicles with Sylvania bulbs almost exclusively, and the quality has always been excellent. br>br>These bulbs produce more light than stock, but not quite as much as Sylvania Silverstar bulbs (which I usually buy). However, I'm not sure the Silverstars are worth it for the price difference. The color is a nice white with a hint of blue, which I think looks better than the more common tint, which leans more yellow.
After 4 months of use, these bulbs blew out. They're only on for 30 minutes every day as I drive to work. br>I contacted Sylvania about this, and they informed me that they would not warranty their product because I purchased it from Amazon through a third party. br>I will not purchase this brand again.
These were just put in a few weeks ago. They are unquestionably brighter than the factory lights. br>At this point, I can't comment on durability or longevity because it's only been two weeks. However, they appear to have lasted longer than those purchased by others here, so I guess that's a good thing. br>These were installed on a 2012 Fusion, for the record. It wasn't too difficult to remove them, but reinstalling them was a nightmare. It was simply too cramped for my large hands. To line up the light base and press it back into place, I had to use an angled pair of needle nose pliers.
My car is a Mitsubishi Outlander from the year 2016. This vehicle has an electrical design flaw in which the headlights will turn off if you are even slightly bumped in the back. after- the- within days of each other After being rear-ended, I bought this as my third set of replacements. After being lightly tapped by a careless driver whose foot slipped off her brake at a stop sign, it ended up causing major damage (and the loss of both headlights). The second incident resulted in no visible damage, but the left and then right headlights failed within a few days. Following the first incident, I ordered these from Amazon because a web search revealed that my vehicle's year, make, and model have a design flaw. br>br>After I installed them, the lights were significantly brighter than the originals that came with the car, as well as the OEM replacement bulbs that were used after the first incident. I use my headlights in all types of driving conditions and have had no problems so far. However, I am prepared for an unavoidable outage, which I attribute to Mitsubishi rather than Sylvania. br>br>To summarize, if you're replacing OEM bulbs, this set is significantly better in terms of lighting.
So I was looking at other light bulb reviews and decided on a brighter bulb that cost around $32 for the set but would have been too bright going up the highway. So I chose this brand because it was literally a factory replacement, and I expected it to be slightly brighter than the factory bulbs; As a result, I will no longer be purchasing these balls, but they are excellent Factory replacements.
Auto light settings come standard on my 2009 BMW 328i, and I use them. Make a note of it and then put it out of your mind. I drive my car a lot, at least 10 hours per week, and I've replaced a headlight three times with these bulbs (one at a time, only when it fails). These lights appear to have a four-year life span. And that's a good thing, because replacing these in my car is a real pain. It's not a Sylvania problem, but a BMW one. These bulbs cost half as much on Amazon as they do in big box and auto stores. I was able to get next-day delivery for a few dollars more. This is unquestionably a good buy.
