Questions & Answers

Is the 80 pound figure for both struts or just one?

Each strut has an 80-pound load capacity.

What is the compressed and extended length of eyelet to eyelet?

I had to take measurements of the ones I took out, but they were all the same model number. They were 19 11/16" long when measured from center to center of the eyelets. They were 11 7/8" in diameter compressed. I tried to measure as precisely as possible, but either measurement could be off by 1/32". I hope this information has been beneficial.

Is the c16-virus going to be a problem? Is it possible to use 08054 gas struts on a queen-size murpy bed?

For my tonneau cover, I bought a pair of these. For me, they're ideal. I'm not sure if they'd be suitable for use as a Murphy bed. Sorry.

Is it possible to obtain these using a remote control?

No, they are merely mechanical devices, though the mechanics must be electromechanical (motorized) in order to operate remotely.

It's preferable to have two
5/5

This is my second purchase of the series. The first set consisted of two 40-pound lifts, which proved insufficient. I'm using them to lift a half sheet of 1/2 inch plywood and half of a queen size bed, so double what you think you'll need. It's perfect to use two 80-pound lifts together. It's so light that I can lift it up with just one finger and it stays put. It will stay down if you push it down with minimal effort.

I'm going to buy more
5/5

These were used to support the door of a large TV cabinet that we built and installed on a custom home's back porch. This large of a Gas Spring was required for each shock, which weighed in at 80 pounds. I started with the 24 pound per shock (48 pound per set) and found them to be insufficient. The door was only about 30 pounds in weight. Installing it was a breeze. I'm going to buy more. br>br>Cabinet (In case you were wondering)br>Width = 60"br>Height = 36"br>Depth = 11"br>br>Doorbr>Width = 58. It's a tenth of the price of Chinese

Made in the United States of America steel made in the United States To lift the door/top of their box/bed, some reviewers say they had to add extra struts. When I look at their photos, I notice that they are hung backwards. Here's the deal: Install the gas-powered generator. end in the direction of the hinge and the top With the door/top propped open to the desired level of openness. Install your 10mm top bracket in one of the following locations: 6 - The hinge end of the door/top is 8 inches away. Install the gas-powered generator. 10mm ball from the strut's end to the top bracket Then, where the strut's other end extends, mount the bottom bracket to the base (box/bed). The gas pressure is now pushing "up" on the top, towards the hinges, rather than outward, as it would be if the hinges were mounted backwards. br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. It's been almost two years and over 2,000 cycles of operation, and these are still as effective as the day I installed them in my outdoor shrunk-down-to-fit-in-my-pocket shrunk-down-to-fit-in-my-pocket shrunk-down-to-fit-in-my-pocket sh a 75-pound door on a shed.

Fortunately, I had a spare pair of Suspa on hand
4/5

Suspa gas strutsbr>br>Two Suspa 80-pound-rated struts couldn't hold a 115-pound hinged lid open. If it wasn't caught, it'd drop quickly on its own. Because I had a second set of new Suspa struts (each with a 35-pound lifting force), I mounted all four struts on the same lid. It now opens easily, stays up by itself, and closes with minimal effort. br>br>It would be helpful if Suspa's website or instructions specified the strut lift force to use on custom projects. Replacing existing struts is straightforward, but for new projects with no studs installed, you're on your own, relying largely on trial and error. br>br>In any case, the two sets of Suspa struts do an excellent job of simplifying the raising and holding up of that heavy lid. Great gas struts that work well and last a long time
5/5

It's an 80-pound gas spring, according to my measurements. I ended up returning the item, but only because I realized I needed something else for my project, and the return went smoothly: I didn't have to answer any questions, and I was able to finish the return in a day or two. As a result, I am unable to vouch for this product over a long period of time. Although it was designed for long-term use, it performed admirably in my tests. br>br>Also, in case the title doesn't make it clear, this product does not include any ball-studded mounting brackets; As a result, you'll need to buy them separately.

Works in the same way that OEM does
5/5

On the bed of our RV, a strut had frozen. The bed can be raised to create more storage space. I visited several RV dealerships in the area, but none of them had the size we required. Thank you very much, Amazon. The strut was the right size and weighed the right amount of pounds. The other side has the same resistance as the other, and it was simple to install and is working properly. This was a good buy.

Wow! They are extremely effective
5/5

The shocks on the tonneau cover on my 1995 Chevy pickup were completely shot when I bought it used. I took the number from the old ones and went to Amazon to look for these. I was concerned that the shocks would be able to handle the weight of the cover, which I propped up with a 2" x 4" section. I looked at the pictures of the holders for the ends and used pliers to straighten the ones that were already there. br>br>When they arrived, I went outside to put them in. I expected to have to remove the mountings, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they popped right off with the palm of my hand, and these popped right on. The top stayed up after I took out the 2" x 4"! If I forget to latch it, it opens and closes with just enough force to keep it closed. So far, this truck's easiest replacement! A fantastic product that I wholeheartedly endorse!.

Exceptional item!! They are extremely effective! One disadvantage was that the 160's were far too powerful! The lid of our RV's storage compartment wouldn't close
4/5

I bought a set of 120's, which solved our problem! Overall, I would suggest using storage compartment struts for under-bed storage.
