This was money well spent
5/5

I have a 2008 Road King with Progressive 444 tires and a touring link in the back. For several years, I've been working on improving the handling of this bike. The first step, in my opinion, is to purchase quality tires. The Touring Link helped a little. The 444's were a huge improvement over the stock rear air shocks, but I still got the death wobble on grooved pavement or over certain bumps on a regular basis, in addition to the usual sloppy Harley handling. The stock height Mono-tubes arrived a few days after I made a late-night decision to buy them. I have a good understanding of mechanics, good tools, and recent experience removing Harley front ends. From start to finish, the installation took me about 7 hours, including breaks and distractions. For a real mechanic, I believe it should take about half of that time. To do this properly, you'll need a service manual, just like with most Harley projects. The instructions are more than adequate, and Progressive provides a few helpful installation videos. I strongly advise you to look over these before you begin. br>br>I'm 185 pounds and don't have a windshield or highway bars on my car. I ride 14" ape hangers most of the time and ride "aggressively" or "deliberately. " My wife weighs about 120 pounds (I'll take her word for it) and she usually joins me on longer trips for a few days at a time. I also ride highways to work and backroads with the boys on weekends. I contacted Progressive to inquire about how many spacer clips I should use based on my bike, weight/gear/passenger weight, and riding style. They were extremely helpful and advised me not to pay attention to the internet chatter I was reading. I went with the stock ride height and installed it with two spacer clips, as instructed. Some people complained that it was too harsh and suggested that only one spacer clip be used, but I prefer two. Although the ride is firm, it does not feel harsh or exhausting to me. I didn't notice any difference in ride height, as some have claimed, but I also forgot to measure before tearing it down. br>br>The first thing I noticed as I was speeding down the road was how much more planted the bike felt. Because the bike turns in faster, tracks a better line, and doesn't want to drift wide like it used to, I'm taking corners faster and smoother than before. The stopping power has been greatly enhanced. With the exception of a few rare instances, the infamous Harley death wobble is no longer present. There's no denying that the front end is stiffer, but I don't notice it anymore, and it's never bothered me because I prefer a firm ride to a mushy one. br>br>To summarize, I've put about 500 miles on them and am extremely pleased with my purchase. Even when used in conjunction with the rear shocks and touring link, this does not eliminate all of the HD's handling issues, but it is a significant improvement. You can't get much better without spending a lot more money, in my opinion.

It was well worth the investment of both money and time
5/5

Stocked at all hours of the day and night. I have a 2012 Street Glide with 46,000 miles on it, and this is something I should have done a long time ago. If your bike has a lot of miles on it (over 30,000), it's worth the time and money to invest in a fork rebuild kit because all the work is done during the teardown and you're already there. The fork seal install tool is the only special tool you'll need for the rebuild kit, and it'll set you back around $30 on Amazon. The fork holder tool is not required. Simply loosen and tighten the caps using the bike's pinch point that holds the forks in place. You and a friend can do it all with simple tools, but you'll need a torque wrench, a front axel socket, plenty of brake cleaner, and a fork cap wrench. My friend and I used to take 6 hours to complete this task, but now we can complete it in 3: ) The upgrade has made me very happy.

Don't drag this out any longer

Be prepared to spend some money if you buy these with a set of rears, as I did. However, replacing the shocks on all four corners of my 12 Ultra has given the bike new life, and the ride is noticeably better than before. When I removed the old shock setups, I was surprised to discover that one fork had near-perfect oil, while the other looked like rear-end dope. This leads me to believe that only one fork did the bulk of the work. If you don't feel like pulling the forks again, I strongly advise you to examine your head bearing. Oh well, I guess it will keep me occupied next winter. It's not difficult to install, but you'll need a vice and a long (6mm) allen head to remove one of the bottom drain plugs, which took a lot of force to remove.

For the money, you simply cannot go wrong

Way better than the 21-year-old stock suspension on my 2000 Electra glide, which I rebuilt with seals and bushings but was still a rough ride. br>These cartridges made a world of difference, and I feel it was money well spent. I would buy them again, and the ones I received said Made In USA!.

Wow! After replacing the stock springs on my 2009 Road King with these, I noticed a huge difference
5/5

The ride is now smooth, the shocks recoil perfectly, and the handling has greatly improved. It was a fantastic upgrade, and I'm glad I went ahead and did it (rear 944 shocks are next on the list). BTW, don't trust Amazon's fit chart; they claimed these wouldn't fit my bike, but Progressive assured me they would, and they did.

Exceptional work! On my 1997 Road King, I replaced the creaky air shocks
5/5

What a difference there is between the two. The comfort and handling have vastly improved. The new shocks also helped me get rid of a lot of the rattling noises I was hearing. Please refer to the fitment guide provided by the manufacturer. This part number was listed on Amazon as not fitting my bike, but it does. On Progressive's website, I was able to confirm this.

Feel the road beneath your feet, and
4/5

I'm 245 pounds with my clothes on for the 2005 FLHTCUI, and she's 130 pounds. Even with the load on as described and all luggage packed, the set came loaded with two spacers, which is appropriate given our weights, but it appears to be harsh. I'm not going to remove all of the spacers and reduce to just one. I've been with it for about 15 months and have driven about 10,000 miles with it, so it's not yet in a more relaxed state.
