Questions & Answers

Will this work with the 5 3/4 sunpie led light you're selling? I bought it from you, but it doesn't fit my 2014 Yamaha Bolt because it's too small. ?

No, I used it to install a 7-inch headlight on a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. The inner ring measures 7 inches in diameter. a little too big for your 5 3/4-inch frame

What is the procedure for adjusting the headlight?

There are three adjustment screws, just like on the original mounting ring.

I'm the proud owner of a 2014 Switchback. Is the mounting bracket absolutely necessary?

On my 2012 streeglide, I had no choice but to use it.

2nd Edit
5/5

12th of December, 2017. This review has been edited. Exactly what I needed! Because I gave this product four stars, I had to revise my review. I'm giving it 5 stars now because I didn't realize the top part of the adapter didn't have a trim ring anchor. It does, as I discovered. It's the ideal match for my 2012 SG. Because the OEM screw is a little too small or short to reach the hole for the bottom part of the trim ring, you may need to use a 10 x 3/4 inch sheet metal screw as the fastener. br>br>Edit Dec 12, 2017: br>I've been using this for a while. I went to Las Vegas in early October and noticed a rattling noise coming from the front end on the way back. When I took it to my local dealer, they discovered that one of the fastening screws or adjuster screws was missing. I've already had to adjust them twice, the most recent time being two days ago. I still give it five stars because the product is still good. The use of blue Loctite will undoubtedly be beneficial.

This item appears to be a good solid unit, but there are a few issues
3/5

This item appears to be a good solid unit, and there's no doubt you'll need it to properly and efficiently mount the high-resolution monitor. headlights with more power. However, I must warn you that there are some issues and things that I would do differently if I were in your shoes. I'd use a drop of Loctite blue on each thread and screw, for starters! Surprisingly, they can work loose, and if you lose one, you'll be in big trouble because these items aren't available in any hardware store. This appears to be a high-priority item for these units only. The other issue is that the headlight ring that goes on the outside to seal everything up normally has that self-adhesive self-adhesive self-adhesive self-adhesive self-adhesive self-adhes This ring is held in place by a tapping sheet metal screw. Simply put, that does not work well with that. As a result, I ended up replacing it with a tap in a machine screw. Last but not least, keep track of which hole each screw came out of as you unscrew your old unit from the fairing! Use a little soap or beeswax to get that screw back in place when reinstalling. I hope this information is useful.

NOT a stainless steel product; Manufacturing is of poor quality
3/5

This item is supposed to be stainless steel, according to the product description. It isn't made of stainless steel in any way. Zinc-plated steel is all it is. This mount will be exposed to the elements all year in my application, so I was hoping for a stainless steel part that wouldn't rust. br>br>In addition, the mount isn't of the highest quality. It's just stamped metal, and the pieces aren't perfectly aligned. The entire bracket is bent, as you can see in the photos, and my headlight is mounted in there, so it's pretty obvious. Furthermore, the screws are threaded only through the tapped sheet metal. br>br> There isn't a lot of threading to keep the screws in place (much less than is recommended). Instead of threading the thin sheet metal, it would have been far better to use a captive but or a rivnut. If the thread wears out over time, I'll have to replace the shoddy manufacturing job with my own rivnuts. Positives include the fact that my JW Speaker headlight fits in the mount and that the alignment tabs line up with the cutouts on this mount. Unfortunately, that's all I have to say in favor of this.

Craftsmanship is a problem: Before I could install, I had to repair the problem
3/5

Installed on a 2003 FLHTCUI Electra Glide Ultra Classic Shrine. I'll start by saying that fitment was not an issue on this install, but I'm a certified mechanic who's spent most of his life riding Harleys. What gives this a one star rating is that the headlight adjusting nut on one side was not tacked to the backing plate at all, making it impossible to adjust once installed, which I had done before I realized when I turned the screw nothing I had to remove the nut, re-tack it (thank goodness I had a small mig), and reinstall it. Second, the manufacturer barely starts the screws in the adjustment nuts, and I was lucky enough to have a tap to re-thread the left one, which I was able to do. Before I messed up the screw, I noticed a thread and realized what it was. Finally, because the mounting hole is a 10 hole (as mentioned in other reviews) and the screw is a 6, I had to go to the parts bin and get a spring nut for the headlight ring. Be prepared to rush to an auto parts store and buy one (about $4. Before the job is finished, it will cost you $600 in retail. Before the top adjuster will lower the light sufficiently to adjust properly, you'll need to run the left and right adjustment screws down to where about three spring coils are visible. Otherwise, the headlight will be too high. I adjusted the lights against the garage wall, comparing the results to the stock halogen I removed. If I could go back in time, I would simply modify the stock housing to fit the light.

If you have a 2019 HD bike, this isn't necessary
3/5

Bought this on the recommendation of the seller who sold me a defective LED halo light on Amazon. . . br>br>The light didn't work properly, and this bracket wasn't needed because the 7" light fit fine inside my original bracket. . . br>br>This looks like a well made bracket for someone who needs to install a 7" light and doesn't have a 7" bracket already installed by the factory. . . br>br>I am giving a low score because I.

On the Road King, the outer bezel ring is loose due to a poor fit
3/5

Road King was released in 2004. The light was finely mounted to the headlight nacelle, and the light was finely mounted in the bracket. I had to spend some time adjusting the position of the bottom screw plate to get the holding screw to go in. The outer bezel ring had become loose after a while. The SunPie bracket can be seen on the left. There is a chasm visible. All the way around, there was about a 1/16" gap. When I was riding, I could hear it rattling. I bought a bracket from a local dealer and replaced it. The fit is now perfect, and the factory brakcet is shown on the right. It cost twice as much as the Sunpie, but it was well worth it because it was exactly what I needed. Because I missed the return window, I'm hoping to find a use for it other than scrapping it. Would have been a good investment. if it had been in the right place.
