It provides bright illumination without blinding oncoming traffic (people don't flash their high beams at me, anyway). The problem is that I only get a year or a year and a half out of a bulb, which I usually discover when I'm at a traffic light, looking at the bumper of the car in front of me, and saying, "Hmm, that looks strange, one side much brighter than the other. " I just keep a pack of these in the glove compartment in case one of them breaks down. Fortunately, changing my VW's transmission on the fly isn't too difficult.
When I use the brakes on the passenger side, the rear brake light and the front running light on that side turn on. I took out the first bulb and replaced it with the second, and the results were the same. I had to buy new bulbs locally for a lot more money, but they worked fine, and it was a lot of fun removing the trunk interior twice to get to the tail light. But, hey, they were a lot brighter than the car's 20-year-old bulbs.
It was a perfect fit for my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta.
I can't comment on the quality of the bulb, but Amazon stated that it was compatible with my 2015 Jeep Renegade, which it is not. The two small metal balls on the socket's side are not in the proper place. They're on the same plane. To properly screw into the Renegade's socket, they must be of different levels.
It's not that much brighter; it's still the same. The brake and reverse lights on my 2010 Volvo Xc60 are now finally white; I considered LED, but with can bus systems, it's more work than the benefit of the output. I installed a reverse backup camera, which significantly improves the visibility of my SUV's back end. If you want to avoid leds on can bus system vehicles, you should definitely avoid them.
In less than a year, I'll have to replace the third bulb. br>br>I'm going to look into LED lighting.
Perfect fit and function on my VW Mk5 Gti (US version, not Euro spec). Euro-spec bulbs, I believe, have two filaments, whereas US-spec bulbs only control power for brightness. I'm not sure how long they'll last, but they're identical to the OEM bulbs.
These have an amber tint instead of the white I was looking for in my DRLs, which is not what I was looking for. I like the white that another set of LEDs produces, but it causes a light error on the instrument panel.
