instead of knock-offs, invest a little more in a well-known brand. After getting tired of changing out cheaper "brighter" no-name chinese models every couple of months, I bought these for my rear license plate. Yes, a quick Google search reveals that "twice as much light" can be had for half the price, but don't believe the hype. These things, regardless of their specifications, put out just as much light as those models, and unlike those models, they're reliable and don't flicker after a few months. The build quality is as it should be, and heat buildup isn't an issue. I highly recommend these to anyone looking to go completely LED, or simply anyone who doesn't want to replace their license plate lamps for at least ten years.
The good news is that they fit the high brake bed lights and will work for license plate and engine compartment as well. I bought these two for our 04 Ford F150 Heritage thinking they went in the interior map light according to the incorrect Phillips website, but the good news is that they fit the high brake bed lights and will work for license plate and engine compartment as well. Despite the fact that I have a lid on my bed, it does light up the area quite well.
Replaced the sylvania bulbs that were constantly burning out and worked perfectly. They were less expensive than Toyota OEM bulbs and have performed flawlessly. I was concerned that the balls would not work in a first-generation Tacoma because of its age, but they have worked flawlessly.
Not at the very end. The light is emitted from the side rather than the end. For certain types of fixtures, this is the one to use.
The brightness of the room has dramatically improved. I can't comment on how long they'll last because they're new.
Brighter than the stock version. Works well with reverse lights with reflector projection.
They shine brightly and project nearly as well as the incandescent bulbs for which the reflectors were designed. They slid into the reflector housing by a hair's breadth.
They aren't quite as bright as I had hoped, but they are adequate. Because they are polarity sensitive, simply reverse the bulb in the socket if it does not light the first time. This was not mentioned anywhere on the package.
