If you want to use these as brake lights, do not purchase them. When compared to standard 1157 bulbs, these lights are SIGNIFICANTLY less bright. They are insufficient as a tail/brake light for my motorcycle, which I purchased. I would be hesitant to use this bulb. I'm unable to employ them in any way. I've just thrown away $14. Just noticing the difference between the tail light and the brake light requires a lot of concentration! When you really look, you can tell, but I need drivers around me to know when I'm braking, and this product isn't up to the task. Even in daylight, you can't tell the light is onbr>br>A dim bulb has its uses, but not for brake lights. If you want brake lights, don't buy them (I wouldn't put them on my car either).
I like the idea of replacing my bulbs with lower-wattage LEDs, but the Jetta's computer is too smart for me, and it recognizes these as a burned-out bulb. I know there are ways around this, but it isn't worth it to me to make changes to the car's wiring harness. The bulbs will light for about 10 seconds before shutting off and the warning light will come on the dashboard. I wish they'd taken my job.
Purchase is not recommended. These only work for 30 seconds to a minute before the individual LEDs begin flashing and the bulb begins to produce smoke, as others have stated. I tested four of the ten in the pack, and they all behaved in the same way. I simply tossed the rest of them because I didn't want my stuff to smell like burning electronics. AVOID IT. I'm only out a few dollars because they were reasonably priced.
These were purchased to be used in an RV. When I put two in the first light, they began to smoke and the LEDs began to flicker and burn out within 30 seconds. To make sure there wasn't another issue, I double-checked the sockets with my meter and got a reading of 12. 2V. I figured it was just the first two that were defective, so I tried two more and got the same result, so I returned them all.
In our LandRover Discovery, I attempted to replace the standard incandescent turn signal bulbs with these. However, they are too dim to be seen in bright sunlight. In the garage, you could see them up close, but not from a car 50 feet behind you in full daylight. It was necessary to replace the bulbs with regular bulbs.
all good.
To be honest, I didn't see the point in replacing my motorcycle's turn signal bulbs with these.
bright.
