The socket has the proper dimensions for the bulb, but the wire used for the electrical contactor is thicker than stock, making it much, much more difficult to twist the bulb into place. It was difficult to grab the edge of the bulb even with a pair of mini pliers. Hopefully they haven't goneuged the copper trace off the PCB, which is my biggest worry.

There are a lot of Youtube videos and websites that recommend T5 bulbs for some reason. Additionally, they do not appear to be oriented.

The tube-style original, however, had a hexagonal shape It's easy to fit, like a bulb. Despite having a square shape, I had to pick with a small screwdriver at the radio and shake it slightly to get it to finally slip through the small opening only to have it not work since the polarity only worked for the other side. So I had to start over. I turned on all my bulbs, but none of them My living environment is a suburban area mixed with dark rural roads, and I've found that the street lights are often too bright from my vantage point.

And boom, they too got lit up. There may be instances in which some or all of the components do not seem to work. The reverse polarity of the batteries is likely what you did.
