It looks fantastic, fits perfectly, and was extremely simple to put together. You could argue that it adds a level of safety because it illuminates much faster than the tail lights. br>br>The only criticism I have is that the foam seal could probably be a little thicker. I'm concerned about water leaking into the tailgate from a carwash, for example. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> A foam adhesive strip is an absolute must-have. After going through an automatic car wash, water was leaking through the vents. I'll be nice and give it a 5 star rating because it still looks brand new after almost a year, and the foam strip was only $2 at HD.
Following a heavy rainstorm a few months later, I noticed water leaking from the back of my car. It hadn't occurred to me that this light could be the cause because it had been a few months since I had replaced it. Every time it rained hard, I'd find water in the back of my car, so I replaced everything around it. We finally found the source of the problem a few weeks ago, when rain began to seep into the light's housing. We installed it properly, but I've heard that aftermarket parts don't always fit as well as factory parts. I've squandered my money on this and will now have to purchase one from the manufacturer. Wish I'd known before I bought it that they don't fit exactly like factory!.
This purchase has made me extremely happy. On the outside of my 2002 Ford Explorer, the old third brake light was looking bad, and it took 5 or 6 individual bulbs to go out at random, leaving the illumination pattern incomplete. I like leds a lot, so instead of spending the same amount of money on 5 or 6 led bulbs, I went with this new unit. Because the paint on my explorer is black, the smoke unit blended in nicely. The other red one, on the other hand, stood out like a sore thumb. The led strip has a good amount of brightness to it. It was a perfect fit, and the factory plug worked perfectly. There is no need to replace the bulbs. I would strongly suggest it.
I put a bead of clear silicone around the top and down the sides just for fun, but I don't think it's necessary. So far, I've been very pleased with this product, and it blends in nicely with the tinted rear window rather than being an unsightly bright red one. AN AMAZING PRODUCT!.
The wiper fluid hose was the most difficult to get on and off, as other reviewers stated. You, on the other hand, are capable of accomplishing your goal.
On my 2010 Ford Escape, I'd had enough of replacing bulbs in the original fixture. The original fixture had deformed (as a result of heat?). ) and had a portion of it broken. This LED fixture was simple to install and has performed flawlessly for several months.
It was just as bright as the real thing, and it got me through inspection.
I wanted the housing to be black like in the picture, so I ordered it black. However, it arrived grey, and I've read other people complaining about the same thing. It appears to be of good quality, but don't hold your breath for the color you desire.
