I got a gasket and added some sealer just to be safe, and you can put some clear silicone calking on top of that.
Wire that is not tightly wound
I'm not sure I didn't have any problems with the cargo lights.
Selected User Reviews For 3rd Third Brake Light for 1999-2006 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra LED Cargo Light High Mount Lamp GMT800 Chrome Housing Red Lens
The light appears sleek, solid, watertight, and bright at first glance out of the box. The LEDs, in combination with the smoke plastic configuration, do not provide adequate brake lighting during the day after the light is installed. The brake lights are barely visible when the brake pedal is depressed. In addition, when the truck bed lights are turned on, the resistor becomes extremely hot. I had to wrap a felt cloth around the resistor to keep the heat from damaging the paint inside the light housing cavity. The other LEDs that light up the truck bed aren't powerful enough to do so. They don't appear to be pointing down onto the truck bed. They're fine at night. I'd consider going with a different brand.
First and foremost, it looks fantastic, very sleek and professional, which is exactly what I was after; It's not very bright, but it's a third brake light, so it doesn't have to be. The cargo lights aren't spot lights by any means, but neither were the factory ones. There's no loss there; they look bright and provide enough light to see in the bed if it's dark, but that's about it; I still plan to add white strips under the bed rails on each side anyhow, so that's not an issue for me. Overall, I'm happy; it looks great and that's exactly what I wanted. This is the light for you if you're looking for a light that looks good but also works well.
I just got back from having my car painted. When I went to put the new light in, I noticed that the red portions were more pink than red. The second problem is that it doesn't match the roof's shape. The two holes are lined up, but they are raised on both ends to keep them from getting too close to the truck's roof.
The installation was simple and straightforward, but the brightness is lacking; my stock third light would illuminate my box, but this one does not; it appears to be power-limited, which is why I gave it three stars.
There were no problems during the installation. For a weather barrier, we provided foam.
There were no issues, and the product fit and functioned flawlessly.
So far, everything has gone smoothly, which is ideal.
