Yes. That's how my system works, and it's great.
Yes, it's just a pivot and a float.

For my 275 gallon fuel oil tank, I bought this oil tank gauge. It was simple to set up and calibrate, taking only about 10 minutes. The original gauge had a nylon string that stretched and caused it to read incorrectly, so this model had a steel rod connecting it to the float, which was a better design than the original gauge, which had a nylon string that stretched and caused it to read incorrectly. This is something I would recommend to anyone in need of a replacement gauge.
Verticle Q is present in this gauge. A that confirms the tank is for a HORIZONTAL tank with a depth of 27". It was for a vertical tank that I got the gauge. When I put this in my horizontal tank, it will show 3/4 full even though it is empty. Make sure to read all of the reviews before ordering a gauge. I discovered that some people prefer it in their horizontal tanks, while others prefer it in their vertical tanks. Amazon appears to have made a blunder in this case. Now I have to return it and instead go to Home Depot.
a little pricey but a very nice gauge very easy to install no problems pretty much common sense people who say they've had a hard time installing or are breaking them clearly don't know what they're doing I don't think it could get any easier to install. However, you can't fix stupidity, so a great product that works well is still a great product.
Update: It was recently discovered to be off by at least a quarter tank. br>br>It's installed and working fine, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. But it did a great job of replacing my old, leaky one (which was 30 years old). It has a solid feel to it. I just bought a second one for my other 30 year old tank that is still not leaking - However, it is necessary to be prepared for it.
This is what I put in my 3500 ram's auxiliary fuel tank. It was a great success. I was able to shorten it to 24 inches and it now works.
It is very simple to set up. It's simple to read the gauges. Construction is excellent.
The second was supposed to be a replacement for the first, but neither of them worked. In order to get them out of the tank, they had to be broken. I attempted to get reimbursed using a computer, but was unsuccessful. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I ordered a third gauge, this time from a different brand and style, and it worked perfectly.
The package arrived in two boxes, each with its own contents. When I first opened the box, I noticed that the oil level indicator rod was bent 90 degrees. The rod has been straightened, but it still does not function properly. (If I hadn't been reliant on the part, I would have returned it). If your part arrives damaged or broken, make sure you have a backup plan in place and a plug to seal your oil tank.
