Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
The built-in trim ring guards against dings and gas stains on the painted surface around the filler opening.
The keyed entry system allows for a very slim profile while also preventing tampering.
There is no need to cut anything to install it.
On late 96-02 models, the stock gaskets must be re-used.

Questions & Answers

Do you require a right-hand and a left-hand thread? Do you have a copy of that?

They do exist; just make sure the listing specifies whether it is for the right or left side, as the right side will be vented as well.

Is the key for the gas cap 8309 compatible with the key for the gas cap 8309?

Yes. My cap has a right-hand thread and is vented, and it fits perfectly.

Is it compatible with quarter-turn cam up caps from the past?

It was a direct replacement for the one on my 1997 Dyna Glide. It really works. Simple to set up. I'm not familiar with 'quarter turn cam ups,' and I've never heard of the term before. Sorry.

Is there a set of two gas caps included?

There is only one gas cap on the car. However, there are two models: one that is threaded in the right hand and one that is threaded in the left hand. Each one needs to be purchased separately.

Quality from Kuryakyn! It doesn't get any better than that! You can't beat the quality of a name brand, but if I had my way, this would be made of a mild metal, such as aluminum or magnesium
5/5

This is an extremely high-stress component that should not be made of plastic. Yes, I know, the Kuryakyn designers are probably reading this right now and screaming at me, "but that would scratch the gas cap!" " Look, if someone was so stupid and careless as to scratch up their own gas cap, that's their issue. You need medication if you can't use a metal key like that without scratching the gas cap. It isn't a surgical operation. The fit isn't as snug as it appears to be. The nubs on the plastic keys are far too easily broken off.

It appeals to my tastes
4/5

It appears to function properly and appears to be in good condition. It's nothing special, but if you get those, it's a must to match the gauges. Surprisingly, it now appears to be more difficult to fill the tank. Basically, it's a gas cap inside a gas cap. The outside screws into the tank's old filler threads, while the center screws into that. More protected. On my 2012 FXDWG with a pressurized system and fuel injection, it works perfectly. Due to the cap in a cap design, which isn't a true flush mount type of thing, and the gas filler being right at the edge of the curvature in the tank, it's not completely flush mount as I'd like, but it looks fine. I'm not sure why I have to fill the tank more slowly to keep it from spilling. The hole left by the cap in a cap thing is plenty big enough for the gas nozzle, even if it's slightly smaller than a factory cap allows, but because you can't see what's going as well as you can with the factory cap, you have to fill slowly and carefully or risk a tank/motor/boot wash in gasoline. Seals fine. and I have no complaints with the plastic "key" that some have on some of the forums and places online.

Does exactly what it is supposed to
4/5

I wish they had a version made of a more durable material or one that was coated in metal. At times, I have the impression that this thing will snap. So far, there have been no problems, but buy a few extras in case something goes wrong.

Chrome is very nice
3/5

I finally figured out that you need to use a HEX KEY to remove two of the eight screws around the ring in order to install those two copper screw thingies and tighten the ring onto your tank. I guess I didn't pay attention to the directions. (And don't even get me started on my eyesight. ) ) But, aside from that, it was a simple installation that turned out well. It was a little difficult to get rid of my old cap. This one is a pain as well, because you have to use a "key" to remove the center piece and then use it to tighten it back on. (This isn't to say it's a locking cap. ) it's not. ) As a result, there was no real benefit to me in purchasing this particular model cap.

The vent valve is poorly made, despite its good looks and heavy chrome metal
3/5

This gas cap was a nightmare for me. The venting portion of the cap had come loose. I discovered the piece inside the tank's neck when I came to a stop to fill up. I was able to remove it, but some of the glue escaped and ended up in the tank. I bought another one in the hopes that it was a fluke, since I already had the matching fuel gauge. Exactly the same thing took place. I used some gasoline-safe adhesive to repair this one, and it appears to be holding up well. The bike is currently being serviced in order to remove the old "glue. " br>I'll give it two stars because they're attractive and made of heavy chromed metal, but I can't recommend them to others. br>2006 Road King FLHRC/I br>2006 Road King FLHRC/I br>2006 Road King FLHR.

Looks great, but leaks gas and disintegrates
3/5

Looks great, but leaks gas and disintegrates, even with the correct gasket installed according to the instructions. Fill up your tank but don't overfill it - You'll come to regret it, just as I did. br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. After about a month of use, I unscrewed the cap, and the plastic piece on the inside fell into my tank neck. The person who glued the part in at Kuryakyn didn't use a gas-tight sealant. glue with a high resistance The glue had deteriorated to the point where it could no longer be used. TIP: If you're going to use glue for gas caps, make sure it's gas resistant.

It looks fantastic and was simple to put together
3/5

It looks fantastic and was simple to put together. It'll be interesting to see how well it works. My previous cap was leaking and did not vent. I'm hoping that this one solves the issue. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I discovered that the vent disc in the cap was missing the last time I filled up with gas. It's in the tank, I'm sure. This had happened before in other comments, and I was aware of it. It appears that it is only glued in place for a short time. Mine didn't last more than a week or two.
