We used this part when we rebuilt Mercury Thunderbolt 500 50 hp outboard engines!.
However, now that I have installed it on my Mercury outboard, the engine won't start and it does not pass mechanical tests. Considering this product has a reasonably good history, it is unlikely that this is the norm, but for me it is a lesson not to order so early.
The Sierra brand is either too short or made of inferior material. This CDI brand is better made and lasts longer, and it's the same price. In addition, the wires will be extra long, which can be a plus over too short. CDI is an American manufacturer as well. The engine fired up right away once the bolts were tightened!.
I would highly recommend this product if you need a stator for your outboard motor. It fit perfectly on my 1986 50hp Mercury outboard.
Used it on my 87 Mercury 75hp outboard, won't be buying another.
I am thankful for the excellent service and the early delivery.
It worked flawlessly. I used it just as I had hoped.
