Where do I plug in the 5 leads I have?

It is a charging coil, it is a battery, it is a ground. It is yellow, yellow/red, red, and brown.

The location of this is on a 99MAG 500, right?

As far as I remember, it was located behind the radiator in my 2001. If it's an area covered with a cover, simply remove it there. This might be of some assistance

In talking with our local Polaris dealer, he said it would hinge on the serial number. Does the serial number matter? Can we use a 2002 Sportman 500 at the same time?

The number of leads may be similar to the dealers, so if they all have the same number, then you should be fine.

I have a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 500 2x4 and it works great! Those on Amazon are cheaper, but I saw reviews saying they would not last so I'm interested in how well they do over the long term. Everything seems to be going well so far. The overcharging issue is now fixed. Thank you for your help. I am very pleased with my choice.

Light flickering was the thought I had when I bought the item, but it didn't solve the problem

Though I bought this thinking it would solve my light flickering problem, it failed to do so. My flickering voltage problems were identified as a problem with the zener diode inside the speedometer pod when I further troubleshot the issue. Comparing the price of this part to that of a dealer part, it's a good deal.
