Questions & Answers
An improved Mercury regulator with a larger heat sink is required for installation, and it should be done by a professional. That's not the same as the original!
A series of steps is required to make the change, including drilling new mounting holes for both the CDI and You'll need to make new starter wires, etc. I would have a Mercury mechanic take care of it.
Selected User Reviews For CDI Electronics 194-5279 Mercury/Mariner Voltage Regulator - 2/3/4/6 Cyl (1989-2006)
I used . com to sell a genuine CDI electronics part, and the part has performed well. I also like that CDI's part came with extra connectors in case one has been damaged during the lifespan of the regulator. In the course of installing CDI electronics parts, I probably have installed over a hundred different kinds, and have never had one fail on me.
It is clearly not a CDI part as they show, and that's a false advertising case, let Indiana consumer protection handle it.
The part you receive is not from CDI electronics. The part you receive is a knock-off that they sell on their website for $27. There's a difference between what we expected and what we got.
