Thanks for stopping by! VAC is an acronym for Volt AC (alternating current). You need to convert the alternator's (which produce AC) energy into DC (direct current) in order to charge your tractor's As a result, you have a rectifier to handle the A year or so ago I replaced the rectifier on my Deere 322 with one of these and it has been operating just fine since then.
To determine whether the AC voltage coming from your alternator is within spec for your tractor, check the AC voltage coming from the alternator (for a 332 it would be 35VAC). If it is, then follow the diagnostic procedures in your tractor's tech manual. In order to verify that the voltage and current draw of the regulator are within specification, there are a number of tests to be performed on each terminal. There is also a possibility of a mismatched resistance in the ignition switch that would cause a false low voltage to appear
Yes, I agree. I have a Yanmar tractor with positive ground that works.
Although I could not tell you for sure, I used it on a John Deere 332 lawn tractor and I am sure it could handle the accessories. I occasionally run the headlights and there was no problem keeping the battery charged.

It is basically a wired in version of a John Deere 322 Garden tractor, since the original one literally melted down and John Deere wants an outrageous price for it. My 4 acres have been cut with this machine for months and not one complaint.
Having to replace it was a mammoth task because the existing unit was pretty hard to find. It was one of those deals where I went to the store for almost an hour without any luck, but a friend immediately spotted it. What the heck!.
In the old 322 JD garden tractor, the alternator wasn't holding a charge, so we replaced it, but since the tractor still wouldn't start, we were instructed to search for an external regulator and try replacing it. I found this one that looked the same as the one on the tractor. We replaced that, and now the old girl runs like new. If we had known there was an external regulator on these old garden tractors, we could have saved a lot of money.
I love the way the battery charges and the PTO engages first time, every time. Installation and set up is very straightforward.
That's a good fit for you. A charging problem has been fixed.
I've tested it and it.
