NOCO HM082BKS Group U1 Snap-Top Battery Box for Mobility and Lawn and Garden Batteries, Black

Part of me wanted to dock a star because it didn't fit "my" specific need, but overall, it's a nice product. NOCO makes some good stuff, and I've had this and the Group 24 box in my hands for a project, and the quality seemed to be better than other options. br>br>I'm using a 35Ah U1 battery from Harbor Freight, and this box fits U1 batteries nicely with some wiggle room inside. br>br>I purchased the box for a 12V car fridge project in which I don't have access to a power supply all of the time. I bought a Duracell DURA12-A battery. To float some higher current radios, use a 35C AGM battery (approximately 8x7x6"), either during power outages or simply for quieter all-around operation. This is a DC system. However, because this battery could arc weld if shorted, I needed a storage box to protect it from accidental short circuits to the battery posts. br>br>The only box I could find that fit this "U1" size was a Noco box, but the snap lid was exactly what I needed: something that usually protects the terminals but can also be removed quickly. The lid, despite its size, has enough room for some basic fuses and a small DMM voltmeter. It doesn't quite snap on as tightly as I'd like, but it also doesn't pull off, so it's fine. It also comes with a carrying strap, which I don't think I'll use (the box has molded-in handles), but it's nice to have. It's a nice addition to the kit, especially if it's in comfortable handles. br>br>The price is very reasonable, and I received it in less than 24 hours thanks to Amazon Prime.

Everything battery-related, with the exception of cables, was missing from my girlfriend's newly purchased 1993 Miata. I didn't want to waste time looking for an original battery tray because the hold down bracket and battery were simple to find. br>br>For my application, I didn't need the lid. I used some battery shock absorbing material I had on hand to fill in the depressions around the bottom cross pattern. It wasn't necessary, but I had everything I needed. The added height of the parts used and the Napa maintenance free battery required a minor bend in the battery hold down bracket, and I built my own J hook with a 6x1 inch steel bar. 0 thread. I was extremely pleased with the outcome and decided to share it with others. br>br>Overall, the box was well-made for the price and should work well with lawnmowers and trailers.

During the winter, I used this box to construct my kayak. It's big enough to fit two 11-pound batteries inside, giving you 36 amp hours of kayak fishing. Someone else wrote a review about using them as Christmas lights, which is exactly what I'm doing with a few of these. I've strewn them around our yard and placed multi-colored balloons on top of them. In them are outlet plugs. Under the lid, there are four gaps, two on each side, which are ideal for running thin and thick wires up and in. Compared to the alternative, this is a significantly less expensive option. Plug-drying products are specialized products that keep plugs dry. From the recent heavy rains, not a drop of water has made its way into these. When I received it, one of the snaps had broken off. Because the broken piece of plastic was not in the shipping container, it was not a shipping-related incident. As a result, the cover will not stay in place. I was in desperate need of it and didn't have time to exchange it before a camping trip. I used a strap and anchors to keep it in place. So, even though the battery box was slightly damaged when I received it, it has had no effect on how I use it.

This is where I keep a smallish 6V lead acid battery that powers the spin plate on a deer corn feeder. It's out in the open, but hidden beneath the feeder in a wire cage. It's not waterproof for an atv, but it keeps the battery and leads dry in a stationary environment like the feeder. The wiring can easily be routed up and out the sides of the lid. This is an excellent choice for this project.

This box contains a glued-on Solar Charge Controller, a Battery Life Meter, and two sets of cables for connecting to invertor devices. Also included are a set of MC4 cables for solar charging. Trust me, this is a improvised setup because I've drilled a half-dozen holes in it, but it's worked out great. It's small enough for me to carry around and plug into whatever I need.
