The system is pretty much what it's advertised to be. Changing the slack in the chain of a motorcycle can be a hassle. Since I have to lay on the ground in order to see what I'm doing, I have to lie on my back. There is a difference between every type of motorcycle. It is rare to find a lift for most people. Once you begin using this tool, it takes a little trial and error to get it set up properly. You can leave it set once you've done it. You can mark two parts of a bike with a paint stick if you have more than one. When I clean and oil the chain, I'll put this on the chain and crank it down until the rubber washer meets the bottom of the chain. If there is still slack in the chain, I'll loosen the axle nut and remove it all. It is also possible to utilize Motion Pro's Chain Alignment Tool for this task. When you have an older bike with a lot of miles on her, things tend to get a little looser. The tool will be put in my AWOL bag. There's nothing else to say.
The chain on my motorcycle has a diameter of about 10mm and a chain tension specification of 1" to 1 3/4". Due to the chart's size, I used 10 instead of 4 It measures 13mm, 1" to 2" It is set to "5", which is the second link in the chain monkey. According to the chain monkey instructions and videos, I had to place the chain monkey halfway between the drive sprocket and driven, loosen all the nuts on the tensioner, adjust the tensioner until there was no slack, Then, following the removal of the chain monkey, I checked the tension with a ruler and was surprised to see that it was The number five. The problem is that I'm not sure how to fix it. I think there are a few things the chain monkey could improve upon its next release. 1) I would change the tightening/loosening 2) I would engrave the chains directly onto the enclosing.
A better example of how to set the tension would be helpful. When you measure the gap between the center link of the chain and the swingarm surface, Ducati asks you to tell them the distance. measure up to the measurements on the back of your product card? To answer this question, I went to my bike which had been set up with the factory service manual and then cranked The Chain Monkey came close, it just required me to turn it up on the generator to get it set I feel that I will end up there eventually with Chain Monkey, but I will do it more consistently. The crank knob kept falling apart, the end cap kept popping off. As a whole The stars are 5 out of 5.
The tensioning of the chain has never been easier. I was sceptical at first, but honestly, it made things Being a commuter, I put a lot of miles on my DL650, which means I have to adjust the chain tension much more than the average person. At first, it takes quite a bit of fiddling, but it's not difficult to use once you've learned how to do it.
After watching a brief video, it will all make sense. Most likely, you'll need to watch it twice. This goes on to my chain after I've cleaned it, and I tighten and straighten it before lubricating it. You will find it to be very intuitive once you have the hang of it. It makes it very easy to maintain my Triumph's demandingly tight chain.
I think this is a brilliant product. It should have been invented As far as chain tension is concerned, there is no question. Simply find the adjustment that needs to be made, This little guy makes chain adjustment a snap. Simply place on the chain, adjust, and do so. There will be no measurement.
More time was spent trying to figure out how this functions than I spent on actually adjusting my chain. Snake oil in its purest form.
Uses a lot of smaller chains. Probably works well. When I used it on my large chain it worked okay, but when I used it on my bike that runs at high speed, I would rather set it myself via Old Fashioned.
